This was a tiny restaurant back from the main road recommended to us by the Tourist Info desk, along with a couple others. Since it was the closest, we tried it and were pleasantly surprised.

There is a nice gift/housewares shop upstairs.

The cafe is small and there appeared to be a real crush of customers at lunchtime. We enjoyed great food and good service by being a little earlier than the crowd.

Just a block off the highway this was a very welcome change from the typical Tim Hortons coffee stop. This is a place where many locals stop, & it's easy to see why. Our greeting from Natali in particular, was extremely friendly & helpful & made us feel at home. Other staff were also great! The general ambiance was very pleasant & relaxed, & the coffee excellent! Food arrived promptly & the portions were very generous. To be clear, this is a coffee shop not a full scale restaurant. But, the food choices were interesting, delicious & nicely presented. We will definitely stop in again on our next trip through Hinton.

I do really like the Old Grind. They are really the only place in Hinton where you can have a quality made hot beverage. I just wish you had a larger kitchen/bakery! Love this place and I'm willing to pay the slightly higher price for the fabulous drinks and food. A great coffee shop. :)

If you are looking for a more up scale java experience than your average Tim Hortons, then I would certainly suggest The Old Grind. The coffee is superb, the cheese cake is exquisite, and the girls who work there are very attractive.
