We stayed here 6 years ago and I am pleased to say that it has been well looked after and the improvements make a great difference. The staff were courteous and generally helpful although one obviously new receptionist needs to brush up on her locality to help us tourists. I have only 1 negative point which is that although I booked several months in advance and requested a room with a mountain view I was given the only room with a dirty great tree blocking the view entirely.
We stayed in a 1 bedroomed unit with fire and kitchen and it was very clean and well appointed.
The hotel itself is situated just by the railway crossing and it takes about 10-15 minutes to walk into town which was ideal on Canada day as we were able to watch the parade without worrying about parking. We had no undue road noise or real noise from the trains as we found their length fascinating some up to 6km in length unheard of in the UK.More
