“Great location”
Reviewed 14 February 2014 via mobile

We bought a groupon for this hotel, we really enjoyed our stay. The customer service at this hotel was excellent. Our one bedroom suite was clean and spacious for 2 people. The only downfall was at breakfast in the restaurant, the food was good but a bill was presented right when we sat down to eat.The breakfast was included in our room rate but the tip area was highlighted so a tip was expected for the buffet breakfast.

Stayed 2 nights for the Alberta Winter Games. Able to accommodate our early check-in with professional and friendly staff. Enjoyed the excellent food and service in the Wandering Elk, complimentary breakfast available at 7:30 am and evening menu service, very tasty. Outdoor hot tub was a perfect way to end the day. Good night sleep, loved the duvets! Heated parkade a huge plus, worth the few extra dollars. Only welcome addition would have been a mini fridge.

Bought the deal through Groupon...was good value.....had a quick burger in Wandering Elk the night we arrived, was very good.Samuel was a good server. The one bedroom suite was quite tiny...I suspect because of the groupon deal....Breakfast was a disappointment...on the Sunday morning...the place was packed with I suspect a wedding party from the night before,,,One piece of bacon and one sausage left, and some scrambled eggs..no fruit had a bagel then left..Monday morning breakfast was the same....good thing we had bananas in the room...would I go back...sure, if we got the same deal, but would skip the breakfast...but would have another burger!!!!I

We stayed in a suite of the hotel for two nights in the early January this year. The accommodation was just the right size with the sitting room featuring a 55" flatscreen TV and an electric fireplace. Kitchenette was a great help too. The suit had a balcony too, quite a nice feature. Can't say much about the restaurant as we only had breakfast there. The outside hot tub is nice in winter but small - max 8 adults can fit in. Be prepared to pay$5 for underground heated parking but it certainly better than leaving the car in the cold outside.

Pros:

- Clean and cozy
- Large showerhead
- Nice toiletries (usually the shampoo isn't foamy and the conditioner is watery)
- Tasty breakfast
- Friendly staff

Cons:

- What's with the bed?

We came to check it out with a Groupon and for the price paid, the one bedroom suite was modern and had all the amenities we needed. We didn't check out the hot tub or the fitness room but the free breakfast was a nice bonus. The weekend had more food options and we overheard some whiners during the week about the selection but it was FREE and did the job.

The only thing we didn't enjoy which is technically supposed to be the highlight of a hotel stay is the bed. We read about the twin bed cheat but didn't think it would happen in a suite. Pushing two twin beds together and stacking two foam pads on them to hide the seam on the cheapo mattresses doesn't create a king bed. A king sized mattress and boxspring make a king bed. Two foam pads made it impossible to move/roll over and removing one left an uncomfortable crack between two sleepers.

Would we return? No. But only because of the bed. It was a good value for what we paid. Good try, Windtower, but not good enough.

We picked the Windtower Lodge and Suites because of the good reviews, their pet policy and the price. The room was cozy small but perfect. We did not see in the reviews very many opinions on the their restaurant, the Wandering Elk, we decided to try it and form our own opinion, What A Nice Surprise. We decided on the Rib-Eye Steak they were so tender. with marinated Portabellla Mushrooms. This was melt in your mouth good. I want the marinade recipe!

Room Tip: Room are a little small, but clean comfortable and very good value. If you have a pet, they are wel...

Stayed for 2 nights for a ski weekend with my husband. First time at this hotel.
Room was small but clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant last night and enjoyed a nice bottle of wine, a decent meal, and good service.
Hot breakfast included with the well priced room made it a steal of a deal.
