Stayed here for 3 nights while we visited the Banff area. It’s conveniently located and it has a nice look to it in the mountains when you drive up. Canmore as an area is really nice with a small village feel and nice restaurants.

Our room here was small. The smallest hotel room I’ve ever had. There’s no air conditioning in any of the rooms. Not even window units. Overnight having the windows open can be nice on cooler nights but during a hot day the rooms are too warm.

The restaurant in the hotel is good. It has a nice outdoor patio. We had dinner there one night. Breakfast here is good enough. It’s a small buffet and the food is ok. They have coffee and tea as well as juices but it would be much nicer if they brought you your drinks. Instead you have to make a couple trips back and forth. They run at minimum staff capacity - one or two employees who just refill the food. You seat yourself. The only eggs offered are scrambled. And you toast your own toast which is annoying when it’s busy. Same for the waffles - you make them yourself so if there’s even one family with kids in front of you, you’re not going to want to wait while they make four waffles. Would be nice if there were waffles ready on the hot table like most buffets. But for not a lot of $ this is a good start to the day and they offer most of what you need just not in the most convenient way.

The room service was way subpar here. It’s hard to tell if they even came by. At best the bed was made (pillows left on the ground though). They took our towels but didn’t replace them. When we tried to call front desk no one answered 3 times. So my husband went to the front desk and they said they’d send them over. We would’ve just taken them there if we could’ve but I guess they had to get someone to take them to us. After 20 minutes still no towels so we had to call for a reminder.

We stayed at the hotel to attend a wedding in Canmore. My fiancé’s son had previously checked the booking a few days prior to our arrival but on arrival we all seemed to have incorrect rooms and incorrect charges to what was agreed previously. We ended up in a two bedroom suite sharing with my fiancé’s son who expected a single room at a lower price.
The breakfast each morning was a chaotic affair in the only small restaurant. Amanda and Lorna worked hard to restock the food and coffee as fast as possible but often guests were stood around waiting. Coffee and milk flasks were inadequate for the large number of guests - often coach parties. The waffle machine took 3 minutes to cook after the mixture was put on the plates. The scrambled egg was always rubbery and the tasteless sausages and bacon were always greasy. Individual small boxes of cereal slowed down the process of trying to serve yourself. The only healthy options were oranges and apples that frequently ran out. Have a look at European hotels buffet breakfasts and the options of a prepared fruit bowl, Greek yoghourt, birchmeusli bowl, boiled eggs, poached eggs etc. The space for the buffet layout is totally inadequate and Amanda and Lorna’s job and the chefs is made more difficult trying to replace items quickly by going through the crowd of guests standing around the tables rather than restocking from the other side of the tables (because restaurant is too small) as well as clear the tables and take the breakfast vouchers. (Why have vouchers anyway if breakfast is included in the price for everyone?) There are boards in the lobby showing possible refurbishment of a tired, dark, old fashioned hotel. Dramatic changes are needed to many aspects of the hotel, particularly the small restaurant. We had dinner one evening and our chocolate pudding arrived cold and James got it microwaved again and reduced the bill on being asked. (Should have done this without being asked)
The corridors are cold and dark with old fashioned colours. The bathroom of our suite was very small with a cramped shower unit. 20 years ago, when the Hotel was built, maybe the standard was acceptable and maybe business is so good in Canmore that hotels don’t have to try very hard.
Good wi fi connection everywhere!!!

Went for a wedding. Staff was very nice. Room was not that clean. Bathroom had hair all over! Chipped tub and tiles. Seriously needs an update, which I think they are planning. Pricy for what you get.

Front desk was terribly slow as soon we walked in. Our room was luckily 'recently renivated'. We booked a king size bed and the hotel's standard is to put two singles together... No fan and no A/C. Complimentary hot breakfast is what you would expect when it's complimentary. Had to park on the main street. Coffee was decent though...

This restaurant was down the street from our hotel. We were able to walk and had the breakfast buffet. It was perfect for us. Good selection and the food satisfactory. We sat inside because it was a little cool but the patio looked inviting.
