I've been hiking out here a couple times a year for the past few years (with the exception of this summer). It's a great hike in summer or winter and I always walk on the creekbed. I suggest hiking boots because of the rocky terrain but they are not necessary for the summer. In the winter, ice cleats are a must or if you want to do some ice climbing at the falls, just wear your crampons!! I've ice climbed there in the winter and it is a great place to spend the day. I've gone slab climbing in the summer further down past the falls and that is a good time too. If you visit in winter or summer you will more than likely encounter climbers. There are some pictographs along the way in the canyon so keep an eye out for them, but please do not touch them!! I highly recommend this hike as it really isn't that challenging in any season.
