“Different eating”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

Ate at this restaurant during one of our many power outages this last winter. The menu was not one of the old standbys it was interesting and taste. Enjoyed the meal.

“Yee haw !!”
Reviewed 15 March 2014

If it's all about the food (BBQ)and service you'll love this place . I dabble in smoked meat and ribs myself and can tell you from experience it's an art ! And takes time to master it . I went to this little hole in the wall when the local rag ran a story on how the owner had left a local job and began touring every BBQ joint from here to down southern USA . Apparently had done this to gather ideas for his restaurant. If his Brisket is any indication , it was money well spent.
In the bus ,it is pretty common knowledge that Brisket can take up to 16 hours to cook (smoke), the tenderness and flavour of this sand which is second to none and the pit master is far ahead of his apparent novice stage in this business . Every thing is done so uniquely , especially for this area yet screams of authentic southern BBQ .
The server who works there , is as genuine and attentive as any you'll have the pleasure to be served by .
If there are any negatives it would be the tiny eating area , ( be prepared to talk to other patrons as it feels like your having dinner with them, but hey , what the heck , there's worse things than talking to your neighbours ) the other is the cost and if you don't understand the time and costs involved in BBQ aka Meat you may be surprised a little. This is one restaurant that I hope continues to do well and as already become top 3 easily in Trenton and top ten in The whole area . I hope he considers just going a bit bigger in buildings and with a little help ,really cash in on a much wider demographic.

“Excellent Fresh Quality Food!”
Reviewed 13 March 2014

While I admit to not having been in the southern States since I was a kid, I do know good food. Primitive Cuisine is all it claims to be. Great tasting, fresh quality food from local suppliers (EG Bibs Meat Market). My family enjoyed the Redneck Taco with Fries (small was big enough for dinner!), Pulled Pork on a bun with a side of Sweet Potato Fries, and for the non-pork eater in the family, a wonderful Pulled Chicken on a bun with a side of homemade Mac&Cheese. Everyone was too full to finish, but are looking forward to some late night snacking. Food that good won't be staying in the fridge overnight! Thank you Primitive Cuisine for making Trenton your home.

“Best smokehouse in quinte by far”
Reviewed 31 January 2014 via mobile

Best smokehouse in quinte by far. If you like real smoked food this is the place for you. Other smokehouses in quinte don't even have a smoked flavour or taste to their food. All food and beer is sourced locally from the best places. It's worth the drive to Trenton. Wish they would open one up in Belleville.

“A little something different”
Reviewed 7 January 2014

If you want a chain restaurant go there. This is a unique experience. All of the food is smoked (even smoked baked beans). It is a little hole in the wall with only a few seats but they are able to make you feel right at home. The staff is lovely and you can talk to the cook. I wasn't a fan of their Mac n'cheese but that is a small flaw.
