After several years of trying to find a good cottage rental off the internet only to be disappointed, we decided to give Sunny Point a try and now our search is over. Sunny Point has way more things to do than your simple cottage rental. (kayaks, canoes, fishing, tennis, games room, volleyball, trails, water trampoline, diving platform, sauna) and amazingly everything is in great condition and CLEAN. Andy, Sue and the staff are amazing, friendly people. The staff are around if you need them, otherwise they pretty much leave you alone to enjoy your vacation. This is our 3rd year that we have gone and we plan on visiting many more times. We have also gone up in the fall and it is as spectacular as the summer. (peaceful and relaxing). Excellent for a Thanksgiving weekend. We have fairly high standards as we used to have a family cottage but sold it recently. Sunny Point definitely meets and exceeds our standards. The rooms/cottages are fully equiped with utensils, towels, dishes, glasses, sheets and more. The only thing you need to bring is food, swim wear and a smile. OK.....maybe some suntan lotion.

My friend and I had a wonderful weekend stay at the Sunny Point Inn. Our accommodations were perfect--very clean and comfortable, and came equipped with everything we needed--fridge, stove, propane bbq, full bathroom (nice towels too!), air conditioner, comfortable bed, sofa bed, table and chairs, and a kitchen that was stocked with cooking equipment (pots, utensils...). We bought our food before we arrived and were able to prepare everything using the equipment. So great! We loved the friendly, helpful atmosphere and enjoyed lounging on the dock and at the beach area. When we left, I was contacted by Andy and Sue to let me know that I had forgotten my phone charger in my room. They insisted on returning it to me by mail and I received it very quickly--by Xpresspost. How thoughtful...and so appreciated! Many, many thanks for a wonderful experience. We'll be back!

We’re back from another amazing week at Sunny Point Resort! This visit was our second year enjoying all that the resort has to offer, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. It just keeps getting better!

Last year when looking for a quick getaway with my (then) 10 year old, we were fortunate to find this gem that would provide all we were looking for - and then some. We had such a great time, that we booked immediately for this year, to enjoy a week long family vacation.

As there were only 3 of us, we opted to stay at the Inn, as opposed to a larger cottage (which all the guests equally rave about). We stayed in the Rosseau suite, which has its own private walkout and is the PERFECT accommodation for our family. As soon as you enter the suite, you immediately notice the high standard of cleanliness and amenities. The suite was fully equipped with everything we needed to be comfortable for the week. It was also nice to have access to free wifi when needed.

The Inn is in immediate proximity to all our favourite activities – the beach, the kayaks, the water trampoline, swim tower to jump from, and the fabulous dock to soak up the sun during the day, or fish from in the evening. The atmosphere is very laid back and friendly, and my son made friends immediately with other kids staying at the Inn, and from near by resort cottages.

The lake is AMAZING! Not only was it warm (25C+), it’s incredibly clean and there are no weeds! The beach has a gradual slope perfect for wading, and the deeper water near the main dock was perfect and safe for jumping and diving. I actually spent about 2 hours a day just “floating” in the warm, yet refreshing water. Be sure to sign up for tubing. It’s worth it!! There is a family of loons that swim the bays on either side of the property, which are fascinating to listen to, and watch. We went kayaking every day and were able to explore the shoreline with ease, including an up close look at a beaver hutch at the end of one of the bays.

When we weren’t in or near the water, the rec centre was great for playing pool, ping pong, shuffle board and boardgames. We also discovered trails that were great for walking and discovering new views of the lake. And if you’re a mountain biking enthusiast, there are trails to test your abilities, as well as hilly, winding roads to ensure a vigorous workout.

All in all, if you’re looking for an awesome cottage experience, with lake activities, comfortable accommodation, and tranquility, Sunny Point Resort is for you! Hosts Andy and Sue, along with Paul, Andrea and crew, all take great pride in providing an enjoyable and relaxing experience. We are already looking forward to next year, as we’ve booked again in 2013!

I just got home from a weeks vacation at Sunny Point Resort, and all I can say is it's breathtaking! We rented cottage #5, and daringly went with 4 teenagers! Andrew was absolutely incredible, answered all of our questions, was there every step that we needed him, and assisted us far more then any other owner of any cottage we have ever visited! The views are amazing, the cottage was beautiful, there is so much to do there; I never once heard any of the 4 teens complain "they were bored!" In fact, it was the opposite, the night before we were leaving, the kids all complained about coming home, stating they hadn't done everything yet!
Andy, the tube rides were amazing, i could hear the kids screaming across the bay; they had such a great time!
I highly recommend that everyone, and anyone visit this resort if you ever get the opportunity, you will never regret it!!! You have your own private oasis; personal dock, use of all kinds of paddleboats, kyacks, rowboats, water trampoline, rec centre and so much more.
Andy, I thank you so much for having us, it was a true joy!!!!

Room Tip: From what i could see, every cottage and even the rooms at the Inn had an amazing view, we staying i...

My husband and I, and 3 year old son stayed at Sunny Point last July and had an amazing time.

We wanted a relaxing week get-a-way in beautiful cottage country, and we were pleasantly surprised. Sunny Point exceeded our expectations in every way.

We booked last minute so we were very pleased to still get a room in the Inn. There are private cottages spread over a large piece of land, but we chose to stay at the Inn as we liked the fact that there was a sandy beach right outside our room, convenient for our son to play. We were very happy to find this beach totally free of weeds, and the water very warm. Unlike other places we have stayed on larger lakes, this resort is situated on a smaller lake, and therefore the water is much warmer. 80 degrees in June, and warmer as the summer progresses. The lake was still big enough though, to take either one of the resorts paddle boats, canoes, or small motor boats around for a few hrs or full day excursion.

When our friends with older children came to visit us for the day, they loved the water trampoline and slide which were in deeper, but still warm water.

The owners were so friendly and helpful and really know what they are doing inn the service industry. Every suite had everything u could possibly need to have an extremely comfortable stay. Microwaves, bbq, dish soap, bedding, towels, kettle, coffee maker, a movie library...even friendly help for a 2 hour kids camp..for a nice little break for parents. And for my coffee cravings, there is a Tim Horton's just a few minutes away. Sobies is about a 15 min drive.

I can't say enough good things about this friendly, clean, family owned resort. We are returning this year with two other sets of friends, each renting their own suite. We found our little "piece of paradise" outside the city.

Sunny Point consist of several cottages and an inn, all at the waterside.
We rented a two bedroom suite in the inn.
The owners were very friendly and helpful and really made us feel at home.
We ended up extending our stay with 2 days because we really enjoyed it.
The location is in the middle of nowhere, next to a big lake.
Watersports, nature and quiet are the main drawing points of the resort.
The suite was not very fancy, but had everything that was needed except maybe a dishwasher.
We definitely recommend this to anyone looking for some quality time a few hours outside of Toronto.

We just came back from a week at Sunny Point Resort and had a great time. Our group consisted of my husband and I travelling with our 1 and 3-year-olds, plus one grandparent. We rented Cottage 3 which suited us perfectly. We loved that the cottage was very clean and was on one-level with no open stairs for our little ones to fall down (as cottages often do). The owners were fantastic, always present, on-the-ball, obviously wanting to take care of the property and stay on top of things.

We chose Sunny Point because there are options for rainy days. Parry Sound is extremely accessible which was a big bonus (if going there, head down to Georgian Airways on the water for ice cream!). As well, the indoor games/rec centre was great for letting our 3-year-old run around and for us to get out on our 2 rainy days (we played ping pong, shuffleboard, etc.).

We also chose Sunny Point because there is a beach and shallow entry was critical to us for water-time play with one crawler and one little guy. While the beach is small, it was big enough for us. One thing that was slightly stressful for me is that the depth drops off quite close to the beach (in some parts, maybe 10 feet off?) so we had to keep the kids tucked pretty close to the beach when in the water. Of course 99% of Muskoka is like this and you need to watch your kids no matter what when around water.

Overall, I was very impressed with the resort and would definitely come again. The towels provided were plentiful and much nicer than expected. The kitchen was well-equipped. There were many closets, hangers and dressers for everybody. The only thing I would advise is to bring your own sheets if you are sensitive to polyester or polyester blend. Personally, I was just thankful not to have to lug sheets with us with our very limited car space (many cottages require you to bring your own bedding!) but one person in our party is pretty sensitive.

Thank you very much Sunny Point for starting off our summer on the right foot! We can see why you have so many repeat customers. My husband will never rent a private cottage that has to be cleaned at the end again…we were soooooooo thankful for the housekeeping at the end of it. Who wants to clean when on holiday?

All the best :)
