We arrived at this magical home when each and every leaf, branch and tree had been 'iced' with white, glistening snow. As we approached the house at the top of a hill, we stood overlooking the sparkling lights of Owen Sound's Festival of Lights. To our delight, this was also the view from the beautiful Ross Room. Linda greeted us warmly, showed us to our room and her husband Paul made sure we had a fire in the hearth. They are an extraordinary couple who indeed have come down where they ought to be. It was a privilege to see how lovingly they have restored and maintained this historically important home. Linda and Paul are exceptional hosts and we were made to feel welcome in every way. It was a wonderful stay and we can only wish future guests bon appetit when they sit down to one of Linda's marvelous breakfasts..

Stayed at Highland Manor for two nights in the middle of November 2008. Not exactly the best time of year to visit Northern Ontario but in the midst of a snowy Owen Sound we discovered a true gem of a B&B that, in our view, cannot be matched. Highland Manor is not really a B&B but is a warm and friendly home where hospitality is brimming from wall to wall and the house itself offers you an experience to step back in time. Linda and Paul are the most gracious of hosts and from the moment we arrived the welcome was truly exceptional. They greeted us as though were long lost friends and within a few minutes felt as if we had known them for many years. The house if full of warmth and laughter which is reflected in the flames of the fire which was lit in our bedroom each evening to lull us off to sleep in our wonderfully comfortable bed. There are many restaurants to experience and we sadly only experienced two but that is a great excuse to return and hopefully, snow willing, we will be able to experience Ted's and Jasmyn's on a future trip. The Northen Lights festival is a great excuse to visit the area and we won't forget the magical experience of a stroll along the river bank viewing the colourful light displays with snow falling all around. Staying at Highland Manor is truly an experience we would thoroughly recommend - many thanks Linda and Paul.

We fell in love with this place, it was so beautiful.
The inside of the house is incredible, the outside is just as lovely.

Paul and Linda, are fantastic. They helped me with some extra surprises I had put together in the room, I had some items shipped up ahead of our arrival and they set them all up in the room for me to surprise my partner! They really go the extra mile for you.

The food was fantastic and we left with one of the recipe in hand it was that good!

The warm fireplace in our room was fantastic after a long day. We spent 2 nights there and it wasn't enough to absorb this great place, so we are going back again!

Stayed at the Manor 'just by accident' on my way to Tobermory and absolutely loved it. So warm, nice and relaxing! Ended up chatting for hours with Linda and Paul and enjoyed it so much. They helped me to make most of my time in Owen Sound on one hand by giving me all kind of tips, maps and brochures, on the other I loved the discussion 'bout "everything and the world". THANKS :-)
And the breaky with Linda's "Ontario Baked Eggs" was very special and really excellent. Hope to be able to return soon....

We had visitied Casa Loma earlier in the day and when we arrived at the Highland Manor, it was like stepping back in time and enjoying our own castle. The "decor" is fabulous and very charming. The hosts are very welcoming and helpful (they made reservations for supper for us in a great restaurant) and our stay here was very enjoyable.

Just make sure to have clear directions on how to get there as it is tricky because of the different "4th Avenue" in Owen Sound.

It was our first experience in a B&B and this really set the expectations high.

My husband and I just spent 2 terrifc nights at the Highland Manor. Not having been to a B & B before this trip we did not know what to expect; what a real treat we were in for. Paul and Linda were more than our hosts, they treated us like and became friends.

The manor is impressive enough from the outside and truly breath taking on the inside. A circular stair case in the middle of the home leads you to three upper stories of Victorian-style beauty. Every bedroom is tasetfully decorated in what you would imagine to be the style of the home's prime and each possessing a unique charm. We stayed in the Fleming room and it was GREAT - spacious, elegant and airy (better than home). The Tempur-Pedic mattress was so comfortable that we slept soundly til breakfast time. Downstairs, the library , the music room and the wrap around "front" porch provided a relaxing spot to just sit and take in the home's rich history and charm.

Breakfasts (fruit with pancakes one morning and eggs another) were hearty and excellent, not just the standard continental biscuits and juice. Paul handled the endless coffee pot like a true master. In the evenings Paul and Linda invited us to join them for a glass (or two) of wine and relaxation. We had so much fun just sitting and talking that we almost missed our dinner reservations - both nights. Paul & Linda made two outstanding recommendations - Ted's Diner the first night and Rocky Racoon's the second. It was truly sad for us to leave. We would strongly recommend this B&B to anyone and look forward to returning soon (perhaps for a winter vacation).
