We recently stayed at the Walper for a hockey tournament. This hotel AGREED to be a host hotel for this event! We were told we (ADULTS) were not allowed to sit in the chairs and couches that are in the hallways as it disrupts the guests! This was at 8:45 pm!! Kids were not allowed to congregate at all even in the area by the elevators! Why would you agree to be a host hotel and not allow anything to happen after 8:30 pm?? We did abide by the rules and then Saturday night we were kept up till after 1 am with Music blaring from a wedding! We stayed on the 4th floor and even then we could hear the lyrics to the music!! But we as adults were not even allowed to be in the hallways at all! The manager stood there until we all walked into our rooms! After speaking with the Chief in Charge he still offered no compensation! We were not allowed to even talk to other adults but it was OK for my 9 year old to be awakened by LOUD music at 1 am and nothing was done about it? Awful customer service!

Room tip: DO NOT CHOOSE A CORNER ROOM! The street noise was awful! Again complaint was received and nothing done about it!

Dear Kpoeller,

Thank you for taking the time to review your most recent experiences with us at The Walper. We truly do value the feedback we receive from our guests and take it as an opportunity for us to better understand what we can do to deliver phenomenal experiences for everyone that does stay with us. I am sorry to hear that as a result of an inhouse wedding, your experience was impacted. This is by no means our standard, We have reviewed with our rooms division manager to ensure that this is taken into account when allocating rooms outside of the wedding attendees.

We stayed here this weekend and we will never return. The noise coming from a wedding that was booked at the hotel shook our entire room. We called down and the only response was “it will be like that till 1AM. Asked different staff in the morning if this is the norm to which they just have a blank stare. They also threatened other parents that were staying there with their hockey team at 8:30pm that they were gonna call the cops on them even tho they were just sitting in a lounge area and hanging out. For $200 a night it is not worth it

Cute and very modern hotel. Handy bars and restaurants in or under the hotel. Great service. This will be my go-to for next time I'm in Kitchener.Valet parkling is necessary due to lack of parking but the car is brought out very quickly. Just call call down before leaving your room.

This is a great old century hotel that has been freshly renovated and is just beautiful, Located conveniently right downtown. The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. The staff is very friendly, helpful and professional. The parking is off site and drop off and pickup area is very limited but worth it. We'll definitely stay here again when in area and highly recommend it.

Room tip: Get top floor as the rooms have wood floors and noise from up above flows through...

Hotel was built in 1893 but you would never know it. The hotel was totally renovated. Check in and out was easy with a very friendly staff. The room was a good size. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Nice large shower, toiletries and top notch towels. Fridge with water and milk for coffe. Valet parking $25 around the side or municipal across the street. Would come back if in town.
