A long lost friend and I went to JLB for lunch last week. We had not seen each other for quite a while and were looking forward to a nice relaxing lunch together. JLB did not disappoint. We were warmly greeted as we entered the restaurant and the staff very astutely seated us at a nice quiet table away from a large group so we could talk. The bread was delicious and a nice start to our lunch. I ordered the risotto, it comes with fried chicken on the menu but at my request they substituted a grilled a chicken breast... no problem. My lunch was delicious, the risotto was creamy and had a subtle flavour to it and the chicken was cooked just right. My friend ordered the lunch salad with goat's cheese, she said it was "the best salad" she has ever eaten. The mix of flavours was great and the goat cheese was so fresh she didn't want the lunch to end. We looked at the dessert menu and it had a nice selection of fresh made treats but we both decided we would be "good" and not dessert today. We lingered over a few cups of coffee and caught up with each other and never felt rushed or that they were in a hurry to have us leave. We will be back.

We've been to the new location on Belmont St. twice now and we've been impressed each time. The food was superbly prepared and the menu is delightfully varied. Service was attentive but not cloying. It's a huge improvement over JLB's previous location which was too formal and stuffy.
My only quibbles were: the bread was gummy and the dumplings are boring.
$300 for four, a bottle of wine, two beers and tip in.

Went to Janet Lynn's for our anniversary and had an incrediable meal once again. Kevin and Nicky have created an place where Kevin's inventation in the kitchen and Nicky's attention to detail to ensure each guest feels special is such a treat in a city where chain restaurants seem to be too many. Wonderful bread arrieves within moments of settling in, drinks follow shortly. The sign of a place that understands service. Food and drink should be the focus and here it is. Had the calamarri; oh my God, cooked to perfection and the Lobster Bisque that was to die for especially on a cold damp night. Soup was hot and full of great flavour, only compliant was two shrimps would have been a nice touch as the one made you want to have another. My husband had the turkey buger and he was so impressed has he had never had one before, he is a Beef guy. He could not believe how moist it was and how there was such a depth of flavours. He really liked the apple. The staff works in harmony to ensure that the guest has the most incredible experinence. This is done under the watchful eye of Nicky who see everything and makes sure the service is up to her amazing high standards. Kevin has the kitchen runnning like a fine tuned intrusment. The food is prepared to prefecation and the presentation is outstanding. Thanks for making our celebration so special

We had lunch at Janet Lynn's Bistro, we were twelve people and the food and service were rated by all who were there between a 9 and 9.5. We would all return. The dishes were inventively prepared and the presentations were outstanding. Every dish was delicious and rivaled our best food experiences all over the world. We are very well traveled and can say unreservedly that we think this is the best restaurant in the Kitchener area.

We will be back from NYC in April and will have our first meal there.

The attention from the wait staff was also superlative. Bravo to all who work there.

We visited this restuarant back in September 2013. We did not have reservations but they were able to seat us for an hour before the other guests arrived. Service here was excellent (some of the best I've seen in the GTA) - our server was very efficient and brought our courses out in a timely manner without making us feel rushed. Food was cooked well; we had the dumplings, soup, and two main courses that were tasty and fresh. The bill was a bit hefty for us but it was worth it at least once to try.

I recommend to try at least once and you will not be disappointed.

Cheers
