Visit park each weekend throughout winter for nordic skiing. Some of best maintained trails in central ontario. Trails for most skill levels. Several heated warm up huts. Friendly, accomodating staff at park office.

Also check out the 1 km+ skate trail and the tubing hill.

We visited Arrowhead provincial park yesterday because it is very close to Huntsville / Deerhurst (where we were staying) and we did not want to drive all the way to Algonquin. We were pleasantly surprised!

The park pointed out that bears are active and that the trails were all open but "very wet" due to rain the previous day. This gave us the opportunity to come prepared - well, for the wet trails more than for the bears... We brought two kids (4 and 6) and picked a short trail which ended up leading us around a beautiful small lake and to a open "amphitheater" place where park rangers were giving a demonstration of Canadian snakes, explaining their behavior and habitat. Pure coincidence but the kids were excited and got to pet and hold snakes - I like to think they learned a little about them, as well.

The park is not huge and we were not able to take advantage of their beaches due to the weather but definitely a great place with small kids!

We chose Arrowhead for our first "real" camping trip with our 5 year old son. It was perfect! Lumby South is a quiet campground, and we were at site #145, which is close to water stations and privies without being too close. It is also an easy stroll to Arrowhead Lake, which has a nice beach and remains shallow for quite some distance, again making it ideal for the little ones. A canoe rental facility is nearby. We paddled down the Little East River early one morning and saw a young beaver swimming across our path! Highly recommended overall.

It was cold and rainy most of our week and still we LOVED this park. Pristine water, great trails and lookout, clean, well maintained park with many great "private" sites. There was a warning as we drove in that a bear had been sighted in the park, and the next morning we saw a mother and two baby black bears climbing down a tree just behind our site. BEAUTIFUL!!!

We camped in Arrowhead for a week with our Tent Trailer in Lumby North Site #80 (non-electrical). The site was large and private and we considered it a prime site but found you really can't go wrong with any of the sites in the park as they are all very large and private. The park is beautiful with great walking and biking trails, beaches and pet exercise area. Some highlights are Big Bend and Stubbs Falls.

The park is very hilly so bikes are a great way for getting around.

Comfort stations were fair in cleanliness with good water pressure for showering.
Lumby's showers we found the water temperature a bit too hot.
Unfortunately there were no laundry facilities at this park. It would have been nice to have that option if staying for longer durations.

We were aware of two bears that were active in the park but during our week long stay we did not encounter any.

The only drawback we had during our stay was some very loud and inconsiderate neighbors. They went beyond all rules of the park and just did as they pleased and acted as if they were the only campers in the park. These campers just ignored the "No Excessive Noise Allowed" signs and staff after being informed doesn't seem to enforce the rules. Example of such is running a generator during night into early morning hours.
