Thank you so much for the review. You all seemed to have fun: particularly the jet skiing!
The shallow water is, as you say, ,terrific for kids. Hope you had a great vacation.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Lakeside room the last week of June and we absolutely loved it! The room was beautiful and spacious, with an en-suite bathroom and an amazing view of the lake.

The location couldn't be better; the view of the lake is breath-taking and the setting is peaceful and relaxing. We went for many swims in the lake and sat on the dock to watch the sunset with their friendly cat Zipper.

Isabel and Michael are amazing hosts who make you feel at home. The breakfast was delicious!! One of the best breakfasts we've ever had and definitely the highlight of our stay. As a vegetarian I usually have a hard time with food when I'm not at home but Michael and Isabel are very accommodating. We would definitely recommend the Swallowdale Inn to everyone!

Loki.
Thank you for the review, we really enjoyed having you stay. We have many guests with food issues or preferences. Luckily, we have access to one of the top food stores in Muskoka and we can almost always find something to suit any need. Hopefully, we will see you both again; perhaps during the winter when there is a wide range of things to do in the Huntsville area.

My boyfriend and I are in our late 20's and stayed at the Swallowdale Inn for 2 nights in February 2014. It was like staying with friends- Michael and Isabel were so incredibly friendly and laid-back, and we had such a pleasant and comfortable stay! The lakeside room had a wonderful view, and our private bathroom was in great shape. We liked the big tv and wood-burning fireplace in the common room, where we could put up our feet and comfortably watch the Olympics or a dvd from their collection. We went snow-shoeing on the lake right outside from the B&B which was a great experience.

Michael and Isabel were so considerate- they asked us when we would like our breakfast, and made a delicious meal early in the morning in order to accommodate our dog-sledding outing nearby (only a 20 minute drive). Best of all, they completely accommodated my gluten-free diet- I had fruit cups, gluten-free bread loaf, eggs, toast, bacon, even gluten-free pancakes! And it was the best gluten-free breakfast I've ever had :) Coffee, tea, and bottled water were always available to us as well. In regards to dinner, we would recommend going to 3 guys and a stove (they are very busy and don't take reservations, but call to get your name on the list- the atmosphere and food are well worth it!)

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Swallowdale Inn to anyone looking for a winter getaway in Muskoka.

Many thanks for the kind review, we really enjoyed having you. The deep tracks where you snowshoed on the lake can still be seen! We try to accommodate all our guests' dietary restrictions, particularly gluten-free. Luckily, we have access to some of the top, and best-tasting, gluten-free products in Canada: though gluten-free waffles were a new one for us!! The dog-sledding was also a new one for us this year. We had other guests try it the next week and, like you, they had a terrific time.

We have just returned to the UK after spending five glorious nights at Swallowdale Inn. We did quite a bit of research before booking accommodation near Huntsville and eventually picked Swallowdale based on previous very good reviews.
We struck pure gold! We believe that we could not have found a more comfortable, hospitable, welcoming base from which to enjoy our wonderful Winter break. Muskoka was covered in deep snow, and the delight of returning to Swallowdale after active days out, to find a huge wood stove warming the very large, extremely comfortable guests' sitting room (complete with coffee machine, kettle, fridge, milk, coffee, choice of tea....& big TV) was beyond joy!
The Inn is in a lovely location, right on the shore of Fairy Lake - covered during our stay in thick ice & snow. The views from the house are magical.
If it's this good in Winter, a Spring/Summer/Autumn break must be an absolute delight too.
As a family of four adults, we had the Lakeside & Rose rooms, both extremely comfortable and spacious with their own very nice & well equipped bathrooms. We all slept extremely well.
And the breakfasts......! Each morning Michael produced a spectacular feast - various & delicious combinations each day of fresh fruit, waffles, eggs, sausages, bacon, freshly baked muffins, French toast, jam, maple syrup, tea, coffee, juice..... Superb - AND served at whatever time to suit our schedule each day (with the wood stove lit in readiness!).
Michael & Isobel are brilliant hosts. We could not have asked for more of them; by the end of our stay we felt so much at home that it was hard to tear ourselves away - we comfort ourselves by knowing that one day we can return.
We cannot rate Swallowdale Inn high enough, it's an absolute delight.
Thank you Michael & Isobel for making our Winter holiday such a success. We hope VERY much to be able to stay again with you one day.

What a spectacular review. Many thanks. Having guests that stay for five days is very unusual for us, but you could not have made it more of a pleasure. Muskoka has an ever increasing supply of winter entertainment. Your decision to try out the classical Canadian winter sports including novice snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at the Frost Center (an amazing deal), dog sledding, and shopping was a brilliant idea. You could have added snowmobile adventuring, downhill skiing at Hidden Valley where Olympic gold medalist Dara Howell's family are members, or the 3km skating track and tubing at Arrowhead Park or the long trails in the Algonquin and much more. With this year's heavy snow Huntsville is a bit of a winter sports paradise. Thank you so much for coming to stay with us, half the joy is the opportunity to chat and meet others and your family was terrific value!! Hopefully we will see you again.

My husband and I rented the Lakeside Room in April 2013. As we were travelling with our baby daughter, we found it quite difficult to find a B&B where the little one was as welcome as grown ups. And how welcome we were!
We asked in advance whether they had a crib for us, otherwise, the baby would sleep between us in our bed. To our surprise, Isabel bought a crib. As the Lakeside Room provides only a shower, and we were the only guests at that time of the year, we were allowed to use the bath tub of the adjacent room. We were allowed to use the kitchen to prepare babyfood and found that Isabel and Michael dealt enormously friendly with every single aspect popping up during our stay.

We had heavy rain throughout our whole stay, but did not mind at all, thanks to our hosts and their lovely spacious home. We were glad we chose Swallowdale Inn and would do so again!

Room Tip: choose the lakeside room for an astonishing view

Wow! It is amazing to be remembered after so long. Although we know that many B&Bs do not like to take children, we enjoy having them. That cot has been very useful. Because of our location on the lake and shallow water for 40 feet out, young children can paddle and swim. We remember your visit well as it was followed by disastrous floods that inundated the center of Huntsville and washed out roads. We had Trumpeter Swans paddling on our lawn - the first time they had been seen in this area since the early 1900s. The 'great flood' brought water above the dock and we had to replace the decking. Thank you for the review, it was very kind.

This is a wonderful B&B where we felt so welcome thanks to our hosts and their beautiful home. Lovely rooms, fantastic breakfasts and a beautiful lake. We stayed here for a few nights at the start of our trip and would have loved to have stayed longer. Researched a lot of places to stay and very glad we choose here.
You can hire canoes close by and we had a lovely day exploring. Alternatively sitting on the end of the jetty with one of the lovely cats purring on your lap reading a book after home made waffles with bacon and maple syrup was bliss...thoroughly recommend.

Many thanks for your kind review. Winter is upon us right now, our guests cannot sit on the dock, and the cats are going stir-crazy. However, our winter guests are finding lots to do with dogsledding, snowshoe and cross country tours, downhill skiing, or simply walking across the frozen lake in the snowmobile tracks. Once back the wood fire is very welcome!! We really enjoyed having you and chatting. Hopefully we will see you again.

My partner and I rented The Lakeside Room for two nights in order to be close to the cross-country skiing in Algonquin and Arrowhead Provincial Parks. We had a wonderful time -- the room was beautiful, clean, warm and inviting; the "common room" has a spectacular wood fireplace, vaulted ceilings and a big screen TV (with movies to watch!); the breakfasts were delicious and Michael and Isobel were wonderful hosts. We would definitely go back.
Thank you for a great weekend.

Many thanks for the kind review. As we discussed, most people do not think about Bed & Breakfasting in Muskoka in winter, yet there are all kinds of things to do. Doing as you did, having a couples weekend in a welcoming home is a terrific experience. We really enjoyed chatting with you and hope to see you again.
