Blue Water Acres
Reviewed 10 May 2013

My family stayed at Blue Water Acres over the March school break. We were delighted with our stay in the well appointed and generously sized Meadowvale unit. This is one of the cottages that is also available for fractional ownership. It is not always easy to keep 3 teenagers occupied, but this resort had a lot to offer both on the resort property and in the surrounding area. While we relaxed in the cottage or went for walks on the beautiful lakefront property, the teens were enjoying the pool, the games room, flying down the tubing hill or having an evening skate. A couple of trips to Huntsville rounded out the week - once for a matinee at the movie theatre and the other time for some shopping. We topped it off with a ski day at Hidden Valley ski resort which is only a 10 minute drive away. We definitely plan to go back for a summer vacation to enjoy the lake and get to nearby Algonquin Park for some hiking.

Blue Water Acres is a short drive from Huntsville and very close to Algonquin Park. The newer fractional ownership cottages are very nice, Leather furniture, gas fireplace, sunroom, Fully supplied kitchen and the most comfortable beds you've ever slept in. I had a peak into the traditional cottages and they look quaint and comfortable. The indoor pool is very nice, but cold and the hot tub is very deep. There is a very nice sauna as well. The games room is brand new with two pool tables, ping pong, shuffleboard and a fitness room. There is a hiking trail , an ice rink and a tubing hill, as well as a playground and tennis courts. The beach is well looked after with muskoka chairs and umbrellas provided. I highly recommend this resort

We did an exchange with our time share and found Blue Water Acres to be just the ticket for a time of renewing and recharging. The two bedroom cottage faced Lake of Bays and we watched a small herd of deer cross the bay several times in our too short week. Both my wife and I cross country skied on the lake "18 in. " of ice even though it was 3rd week of March. Over 50 restaurants in the area so we took in three spots - all gave wonderful attention. Staff helpful in advising where to go and what to see. Slipped over to Dwight to grocery store and two bakery's. Take the Dwight Beach Road - very picturesque and saw more wildlife. Facilities are spotless, indoor pool, spic and span and games / exercise room was good.
Used the gas barbecue and wonderfully equipped kitchen.
Only things that we noticed is mattress will soon need to be replaced and a minor repair to tub faucet in master en-suit.
We recommended it to our family members

It is nice and quiet place that offers tons of activities. Our cottage is located near the local road but we hardly hear any cars passing. The rooms are small but the accommodations are compensated with leather furniture, a nice TV and a fireplace. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a new gas grill outside. The whole resort seems like a very well maintained place. The indoor pool, jacuzzi, and sauna are clean and pleasant. The gym is small but is bug enough to keep us busy. We love to play pool and ping-pong. All winter equipment is available for reasonable prices. Nice and friendly personnel. I can imagine how enjoyable it would be to stay here in the summertime. We love this place!

We stayed 2 nights in a traditional cabin in April 2012. The cabin was in need of refurbishment but was clean and fairly well equipped. The resort and beach were nice and staff were polite. We stayed with young children and were greatly concerned about security inside the cabin as none of the windows were lockable (all of the locks were broken). Similarly, the door lock for the door onto the terrace was also broken and had been wedged closed with a wooden stick.

Room Tip: the traditional cabins are well located but are very basic

My boyfriend and I stayed here for the long weekend in February. Firstly – I want to say that the staff is very helpful and extremely friendly. They are always willing to go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable.
The resort itself has fractional cottages and traditional cottages. We stayed in a traditional cottage. It was very clean and nicely equipped with all the essentials. There are a multitude of activities to do from tubing, skating, beautiful walking trails…etc. We went in the winter and there was so much to do. We plan on returning in the summer to check out their private beach! This resort also has an indoor pool, laundry facilities, sauna and hot tub. I would highly recommend this place and plan on visiting again many times in the future.

Room Tip: Any cottage on this resort is great. In summer - ask for one closer to water.

We found broken armchairs, dirty chairs on the terrrace, dirty sheets, no comfort in the bedrooms, I mean only two beds, no chairs, no lamps ,no bedside teables, only an open wardrobe. The bathroom was so terribly small , like that you can find in a ship cabin. We had payed for three days in advance , but we went away at the second day of our staying there.
