I booked a 3 bedroom unit for the long weekend at March break, I went thru points and lucked out, we got the presidential suite.. It was awesome! Very big and opulent, my son loved the movie room!
We have stayed here one summer in the townhouse units at the back.. it was ok!
This was our first timeshare(bought 2001) and I recall being nervous... we paid for it over time but it has worked out nicely! We were able to exchange it for a week in Fla (Pompino & Orlando) a week in SC and got great resorts! We upgraded to points and bought a few more weeks else where over time. Now with more points we have great flexibility! I am staying here for a week mid summer as well, looking forward to it if the weather holds up!
As we live in the GTA it's nice to know we have the option of a week or weekend close to home, even in the summer. The points give us great flexibility, it allows you to combine many points weeks and go to lots of great places.. my fav was Aruba. But you have to plan ahead. It requires a bit of work / planning to get the most out of it, but I am enjoying using the timeshares!!! I think this was a very nice first time purchase and am happy with it still.

Same story as many below - we knew going in that we were going to have to sit through a "tour" and had a good feeling that it would be a sales pitch, but went with the hopes that at least it would be a nice relaxing and affordable getaway at a newly renovated hotel.

First confirmation that we were in for a disappointment: big signs in the foyer that say "Renovations Commencing: Spring 2010" - these words were clearly added on to the larger poster that listed all the parts of the hotel that would be renovated, as if it used to say "Fall 2009", and then "Winter 2010," but there really are no renovations, so they just keep getting a new sticker to paste over top of the old ones.

Next, we were disappointed in the room because it smelled like a combination of body odor and vomit. The hotel is really a very bare bones place - nothing fancy, no room service, minimal amenities. The "grounds" are fairly nice as it's situated beside a golf course that belongs to its neighbouring resort, and a bunch of little condos.

The presentation that you sit through is a part of a large timeshare company, although what they offer you is not a typical timeshare per se. It's more of a very expensive membership that offers you savings on multiple hotels and resorts around the world. The pitch was given by a friendly enough lady, and the tour to the "members side" of the hotel just made us hate our stinky room even more, as you get to see how you could be traveling, only if you purchase the expensive membership though.

As you refuse the options they offer you, they keep bringing in other people and going lower and lower in terms of the price of the package they offer you, but in the end you're still left wondering why you'd pay a lot of money every month to save a few bucks here and there.

The other reviewer below mentioned the cheesy champagne cork thing - totally true! The worst part is that we had read these reviews but we still went hoping the hotel would at least be free and nice, but the pool was moldy, the sauna wouldn't heat up, and the hot tub was...."under construction."

We had booked 2 free nights, but decided to suck it up and pay for a nice night somewhere else so we could at least make the most of our getaway. We ended up staying at a beautiful hotel in Blue Mountain, with the best pool-hot tub-sauna setup we've experienced. Restaurants in the village were having their springalicious festival so we got to eat an amazing meal - MUCH better than the "buy one get one free" meal we had at Georgian Manor, where we paid the same amount of money for a meal that didn't even compare to the meal we had in the Blue Mountain village.

Overall, we're glad this scamming company called us because it got us away from our stressful lives and up to Collingwood for a nice getaway, which ended up being amazingly relaxing at the hotel we switched over to - and we will likely go back there, just not to Georgian Manor.

Re: the deposit that you give to Georgian Manor, supposedly you don't actually give it to Georgian but to the scam company - we haven't gotten our refund on the "deposit" yet, because they supposedly can't return it to your credit card, but will be calling to check in if we don't receive our cheque in the mail.

We were invited to stay 2 days in this hotel with deposit, and we were told that the deposit would be returned if we participated into a meeting. We did go to the meeting, but the money is never back. I called them several times, and the recent one was 3 weeks ago. A lady in custom service told me that the check would arrive to me within 2 weeks. However, 3 weeks passed, the money still does not show up. I left a voice mail to them again today. I hope they could eventually mail the check to me.

So some guy calls you from a call centre in North Corolina and offers a free night, they just need a room deposit. I ask is this a Time Share Pitch... replies, "No, sir it's not, new owners have put in 3.4 million dollars of renovations into this site and a trying to attract new customers. Word of mouth is the most powerful advertising we can do, you only have to tour the facility". So you get there, try and book your Tour, now here is where you know for sure that something is up. You can only go on your "Tour" (there word not mine) on the day of your checkout... that's because they know you'll run. So the hotel, it's ok, rooms are nice, bed was very comfortable (only really highlight) and yes Merv the omlette guy is a nice guy that's about it.

The Cons... lots of noise from the hall, woke us up a lot, the ceiling above the front desk is falling down and lots of cigarette butts on the ground. I was told it was only an hour "tour" and it took 2.5 hours and was high pressure time share pitch. Sales guy was ok, but kept going on and on about his personal life, I know when his dad died his family tree, the brother he doesn't speak too.. brutal. In the end we said, sounds nice but sorry were not interested. He respected that but they this little Itailian guy sits down, who smells like the floor of a bingo hall and asks "what if I give you a sports car and you drive the heck out of it for two years? you interested in that? He tries to sell you a tempory time share and the guy is pushy. Now here's the catch.. you leave before their done...... no refund.

2nd Catch just called them, one month after our stay, still no refund, they seem to have overlooked that... "Oooo we're very sorry we'll get that out today"... yah right how many people don't call back.

Collingwood is nice, we had a nice time, but we could have spent our time better. When you have a good product people find you, not you get tricked into a high pressure sales pitch.... and the absolute best is everytime another couple agrees to sign up .. the sales person cracks a "mini" bottle of champagne and all the sale people clapp and cheer... it's like being a high pressure Chucky Cheese.

For the $90 bucks, gas and meals...... insted, take your wife out somewhere local you know is fantastic and stay in a room there.

I have read lots of bad reviews, not sure why? Stayed in January have children, lots to do, close to Blue Mountain. If you are not super picky and dont mind a short tour and sales pitch its great. After all its free, recieved our $ back right away, didnt have to buy a thing. Would recmmend to friends and family.
