Bracebridge Inn

We booked this motel (inn is much too kind a word) for our Bracebridge triathlon. The plan was to pull in early, relax and get ready for the race the next morning.

We showed up at 8:30 and was told we were checking in late and should have called ahead! I appologised paid for the room then went to unpack.

On opening the door a wave of must mixed with cigarettes filled our heads. We were so disappointed. 100 bucks a night is not that cheap. My girlfriend went back to the car to let the room air out and I began snapping pictures. There were two car air fresheners in the room: new leather and black ice. There was a large LCD TV but that and the cable box were plugged into the wall via a long extension cord.

The bathroom of horrors continued the adventure with a child's mirror that had a baseball, football and other sport motifs on it. The sink and standup shower were very moldy. I took pictures of everything. The bathroom walls were covered with dirty finger prints.

All in all we were both disgusted and made the decision that we derserve better. I was able to get back some of the money and accepted the loss.

The front desk claims that all the rooms are 'sanitized' and that the rooms are inspected for cleanliness. She advised that leaving the air conditioner on would help. We just wanted to get the heck away from room 108.

In the future I will carefully read reviews on Trip Advisor.

PS we stayed at the Muskoka River Inn. Much much better

All previous comments made were valid points.....it is in a very convenient location, has available parking, sporadic free Internet, a tv (we could get one channel), coffee facilities, a microwave and fridge, hot water and a wall heater but.....

The room smelt very musty and stale, although the bedding and towels appeared clean (apart from the ink stains??) the floors, walls, ceilings, woodwork and windows and dressings were grubby and dirty.

The shower flooded the floor as the water ran over the edge of the bath, my hairdryer fused the electric, the window wouldn't close and the furnishings were basic and sparse.....clothes hangers on a rail attached to the wall for a closet.

For us, the smell was the worst part and we can still 'taste' it unfortunately.

This is a 'motel' style of hotel so all room doors face the street.

We booked after looking at trip advisor reviews but were very sorry we did. We paid $250 for a two night stay and tried to leave after the first night but other places in a similar or slightly higher price range were fully booked.

I would not use this 'hotel' again.

I would stay there again if I needed to.

Excellent location. Clean, good-priced motel. The management was helpful. You get what you pay for. Old building but clean. Town very nice. Restaurants walking distance. Big rooms for family in the back. Pleasant environment to sit on the porch.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in the back.

Avoid this "Inn" at all costs. It was a Horrible room very Old and outdated. Noticed a very musty smell. Needed a room last minute for business right downtown. Will not stay here on my business return trip next month.
It is basically a dump.

Room Tip: No stars should be given for anything.

The location is great, right in the middle of downtown Bracebridge. The new management is really friendly, helpful, and very accomodating. You get a good deal for the price you pay with clean rooms and great service. I definitely recommend this place for people with family who are looking for great accessibility to all the local offerings of Bracebridge especially Santa`s village for kids. When we had gone there, it was close so we are definitely coming for the summer when it will be open.
