We researched restaurants offering lobster on the menu while on a cruise from New York to Canada. We discovered Lobster Pound and Moore in North Sydney, Nova Scotia and they held a reservation for us for several weeks. We took a public bus from Sydney to North Sydney, rather than a cab, and it worked perfectly--reliable, clean and comfortable transportation. The ambiance of the restaurant is casual yet far from a local "hole in the wall." Patrons arrive for lunch in jeans or business casual. The menu is extensive with everything from burgers to fresh seafood--portions are monumental. The service is friendly and professional. Ah, but the lobster--outstanding! Because we went in October and the local waters were too chilly, we dined on a Yarmouth lobster which was smaller, so the chef also served a large Snow Crab from the waters of Louisbourg, along with salad and frites--the servings are so large, we split the dinner and we were very full. The food is artfully presented and the chef's culinary skills exceptional.

This is the best restaurant in Cape Breton! The staff are professional, helpful and give great advise and service. We had the special after the famous Wontons!!, great recommendation. We will definetly be booking our dinner reservations at The Lobster Pound and Moore, on our next visit to Cape Breton.

My husband booked this a month in advance and so glad because when we got there, the sign on the door said they were completely booked for the evening. My husband found out about this place on TripAdvisor and wanted to celebrate my birthday while in NS. I asked for a lobster in advance and you cannot believe the size of the lobster they had for me...and the crab legs, the salad (great salad dressing!)...The owners welcomed us warmly and kept coming over to see if we needed anything. We were treated like royalty. If you get a chance to try this place out you wont be disappointed. The chef is so creative and artistic with his presentation, not to mention the taste. OMG.

This is by far THE BEST find in all of Nova Scotia that rivalled any restaurant in New York, San Francisco or Italy! Every single dish was phenomenal and the service was amazing.

When we called for the reservation, they observed our out of town phone number and asked if we would like to reserve lobster dinners so they would not be sold out. WOW

We started by ordering a smorgasbord of many appetizers and every single one of them were awesome. The chef came to our table several times and commented that we had ordered most of the lobster dishes but not the ravioli so he comp'd a dish of ravioli for us to try it too. WOW

Highly recommended are:
- Lobster ravioli Rivalled ANY restaurant in NY or the world!
- Lobster won tons
- Lobster spring rolls (get them!)
- Bacon, apple and fennel salad

For mains we ordered the Lobster platter which actually came with a full lobster and half a massive crab, salad and fries. This was PERFECT and more than enough to share with 2-3 people.

The ribs were to die for, smoked for over 6hours and literally fell off the bone.

The best part is that the entire meal with wine was just over $200 and better than several meals that we had spent over $1000 in top restaurants elsewhere.

As we left the restaurant, the next table of 10people received their orders and we wanted to stay for more. Portions were hefty, presentation was beautiful and the price awesome.

One of the dishes we wanted to try next time were the lobster club.

Do it, you will be amazed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So glad we visited this place! Had an AWESOME seafood dinner- a massive amount of crab and lobster for next to nothing in price. Waitresses were super friendly. We asked if there was a good local place that we could check out some music- the cook actually took our his phone and started calling around to pubs to see who was playing. Also recommended other good places to eat nearby. Nothing but raves for this place.
