Checked out all of the campgrounds in Valemount area before settling on Canoe River, mostly because they offered shaded sites to camp. At first glance it appeared pretty decent, but we found that it is a mecca for ATV and 4 wheel enthusiasts-- especially during BC Day three-day weekend, when Valemount hosts a "mud race" tournament. Friday night was pretty busy with lots of trucks and rigs pulling in until the wee hours, ATVs running up and down the roads raising clouds of dust, and lots of parties taking place, despite the advertising that ATVs were banned after 10 pm and quiet hours were to be observed. Not quite the "peace and quiet" we expected, but guess that comes with the holiday. Next morning found a quiet campground, but the one across from us featured beer cans strewn out into the road, unattended children running around, and a unwatched fire.
Bathrooms were far apart and not super clean, but I attribute that to the number of campers. Overall? Ok, but probably won't rush back.
