“Adequate, but nothing special”
Reviewed 11 March 2013

All by itself on a clearing in an industrial are. When we arrived there was only one car in the lot...I thought it might no be open. No signage on the highway...we drove by viewing it on the left but unable to turn around for a few miles. Then we couldn't find an access road...no wonder there were no cars.
Nothing to complain about inside...room clean, staff friendly. although the pool was closed (apparently has been for a long time). Breakfast adequate.

**highly recommend, would return again**, 3-star quality level at 2.5 star prices; just 26 mi (or 35-40mins) south of Whistler. For the price of lifts for 3-days, stayed for 4 nights; worth the drive between Whistler & Squamish for savings. Locals (Canucks) tend to stay here (Sandman a Canadian chain); was nicer, much quieter & less crowded than the nearby Best Western (3-star) place. Only time we saw anyone was in the morning for breakfast, and it was never crowded at even peak breakfast time (less than a dozen max at peak time at breakfast).
Friendly staff service, everything clean (pool was closed for seasonal upkeep so didn't use it), wouldn't have had time to since Whistler was our main preoccupation. Squamish Visitor Center a destination place (beautiful modern bldg, nice gift shop, & coffee bar area to stop in arriving or departing Squamish, or rest stop from Whistler. Nearby shops/eateries/drug store/groc store/even Urgent Care medical clinic very convenient, much less hectic than at Whistler; a wonderful pleasant surprise (had never stayed there before). Can't wait til next opportunity to stay & visit Squamish/Whistler area again.

Room Tip: all rooms good (both sides of bldg has view of surrounding hills), quiet lobby, easy parking, near W...

I'm not a fan of Sandman Hotels so I can not campare it to other ones. Its the higher priced of the top 3 in Squamish but the only one with a continental breakfast. The hotel is new so still clean looking and new smell, well its a few years old but I have never seen more than a few cars there. Our room was a nice size, comfortable bed and good A/C. Its right off the hiway and near Walmart and Tim Horton/Wendy so easy to pickup snacks as no restaurant in the hotel.
I would stay again if the price was right.

The staff were nice and accommodating. The hotel rooms are nice and we were given a nice view of the Chief. The included breakfast is industry standard. I have included pictures. My wife and I were upgraded to the nicer room which is always nice. If you are travelling in the area be sure to check out the Brackendale Eagle Sanctuary in December and January, it's free. If you want some really good grub go to Fergie's Cafe. Its about a 15 minute drive from the hotel but if I am willing to drive two hours to eat there I am betting you will love it too. Check both out on trip advisor. Make sure you check out Fergie's operating hours because they change and are not normal operating hours.

Room Tip: The room we had was on the top floor, I believe they called it a business suite.

We stayed here again. The pool is still under construction since the change over in the company so don't expect it to be done anytime soon!
Relieved the manager is no longer there from the last summer.
For families - great location for various activities nearby. Alice lake up the highway, Heritage Railway Museum is just a little drive behind the hotel, Shannon falls trail down the highway.
TIP: I kept overlapping my hotel card key next to my iPhone thus having to go down to the front desk to recode it so keep them separate!

Good points: excellent bed, lots of space, good desk & other furniture, black out blinds.

Bad points: 1) the lights - low (40 W or lower equivalent CFL's) lights. While we appreciated the need to conserve energy some respect for our habit of reading print media would have been nice.

2) the HEAT (should it be necessary to turn on the air conditioning in a mountain town in January, just to get the room to a comfortable 20 C/ 70F?). We turned the heat off and opened the window as we went out for dinner. It didn't help much. Hence the air con.

3) housekeeping - maybe it was an off day for housekeeping or maybe it was because the poor maid couldn't see what she was doing in the dim light BUT all horizontal surfaces in the room were dirty - sticky to the touch dirty. They offered to move us but we were 1/2 unpacked and I'd cleaned the place myself already.

Other things:

The pool and fun-looking water slide? Don't know about that - it was 'closed due to construction' and front desk said something about waiting for permits. How long has this hotel been open?

If you are going to use the kitchenette, you need to bring your own dishes. None are provided.

For a reasonably low price we found ourselves in a beautiful room in which everything except one light bulb worked, including BOTH Tvs. (The bulb was replaced immediately). Internet was free incl. a computer. Breakfast was free and so was a nice little gym. There was a pool but it was out of bounds for construction when we were there.

The service was mostly excellent too but the continental breakfast was a disappointment due to there being no dishes for the cereal! We were advised to "Just use a coffee cup!" but surely it would have been wiser for the staff to quickly shoot down to the shops to buy a dozen cheap dishes. What struck us as an excellent hotel and great value, allowed its overall impression to be spoilt by this small detail.

Room Tip: I don't think any of their rooms would have much of a view but if they are all as well appointed...
