Stayed at the Sandman 1 night Friday July 26th. This was my second stay at the property. The hotel is clean, new and modern, and has breakfast included and a pool. The check in was easy and our request for a late check out at noon was agreed to with no issue. The hotel is across the street from Walmart and a quick drive to coffee and restaurants.

It was a welcome surprise to be able to book a special rate on short notice (Friday) for a holiday (Sunday). We picked it for: price, proximity, age, free wi-fi in the room, no pets allowed but in dedicated rooms (added fee), smokefree property.

The first room we were given had a great view of the Chief, but an overwhelmingly bad smell of sour shower curtain. We didn't have to fight to get a new room; and since the hotel was fully booked, we were 'upgraded' to a suite with 2 queen beds -- and without funky smells. (If you're hoping for a king bed, it's not necessarily an upgrade.) This one had a less attractive view, but, facing North, turned out to be very pleasant on the hottest days of the year thus far.

The room was nicely furnished, with solid, huge dressers and a sofa(bed). It was lovely that a small (screened) window could be opened to let in the fresh air and nature's sounds; the nearby treed area helped keep the room cool at night. (I hate A/C.) There was a microwave, coffee making utilities, separate sink outside the bathroom, a big, empty, quiet fridge, and a recycling box. No bible to be found anywhere, which was a refreshing touch.

The bathroom had a fan separate from the main A/C -- so there shouldn't actually be any smelly shower curtains in any room. The nightlight (built into the hair dryer) was unfortunately broken, so I was happy about the older style CFLs in the bathroom, that got brighter gradually. Grateful for the CFLs in general, not just because they helped keep things cool. The toilet was *not* dual-flush, which is disappointing, considering the young age of the hotel.

The complimentary breakfast consisted of various bread items (bagels, english muffins, (unfortunately soft) croissants, toasts), sweet american cereals, pre-fab scrambled-egg-omelette-things, boiled (peeled) eggs, sweet yogurts). The coffee was great, and compliments for real cutlery, paper cups + plates. There was a huge rush of people between 9:30-10 which makes me think it would be better to extend the times to 6-11 on weekends (currently 7-10).

Re the headline: We stayed at the Sandman on the eve of Canada Day. Even though the hotel is built very solidly, quite sound proof (most of the time we thought we were the only guests), the design of the doors makes it impossible to close them quietly, but of course it is even louder when you don't even attempt to close them quietly and just let them slam. (Apparently we weren't the only ones thinking we were the only guests...) Between 23:00 and 1:30 we were woken up repeatedly by slamming doors, running, giggling, screaming and loud talking. Giving up hope those folks would settle down by themselves, we called the front desk. The person on duty sounded very reluctant and not very eager to help us, but promised to come up and look into it. The commotion kept going on unchanged for another 30 minutes, until those people must have finally got tired and turned in; it didn't seem like anybody ever came up to talk to them. VERY disappointing.

We had planned on using the (small) pool in the morning -- after skipping it the night before, because there were so many kids in it -- but decided to catch up on the missed restful sleep instead. Thankfully the beds were simply great.

Room Tip: Facing the Chief if you want a great view; facing North if you want to hear nature + keep cool/shade...

Comfortable beds and a mini kitchenette in our room with 2 Queen beds. There were 4 of us staying if the room, and we (wrongly) assumed the reservation price was for 4 people and were charged an extra $20 for our two "extra people". Basic continental breakfast was included, but no restaurant.

No signage on the road or at the roundabout after you turn off Hwy 99 is Squamish. So, you wonder where you are. Well, you are smack dab in the middle of an underdeveloped industrial park. This hotel is about .5 km from the roundabout surrounded by empty lots, and let me tell you, it's an easy target for theft and vandalism. Signs are posted everywhere warning you of this. What's puzzling, is if there's so much, why doesn't the property install surveilance?

Suffice to say, my vehicle was vandalized. Broken mirror.

The hotel - nice, new and comfortable. Beds are super nice. Rooms are large, so the 32" LCD TV isn't nearly large enough for a room this size.

Cleanliness was okay. It looked like 'something' occured on the desk, because there was an imprint of a person's back on the mirror that never was cleaned off. I had to do it myself, which was gross.

A/C works, but is very loud when it kicks in, but does the job.

No restuarant at this Sandman (unlike most others), so beware - WalMart is close by, as is a Tim Horton's/Wendy's.

The continental breakfast was okay - have had better and isn't refreshed fast enough.

Would I stay here again - probably not until there are other buildings in the area.

Room Tip: Park close to the entrance. Take photos of the vehicles that park next to you.

The hotel is almost brand new with a great pool. We walked downtown, about 30 minutes but less than a 5 minute drive. Not much close to the hotel but the standard restaurants etc in town. A great location for Kite Boarding, hiking, mountain climbing, skiing etc. It gets you out of the Vancouver Traffic and much less expensive than Whistler.

The continental breakfast was standard and filled us up to start the day. The air conditioning didn't work in the room but we opened the window and slept great. A very quiet location.

We made a day trip to Whistler beginning of March 2013 and decided to stay at the Sandman in Squamish so we could do some sight seeing in the morning.
Checkin and check out went flawlessly. The hotel was fairly quiet, not alot of guests staying at this time.
The hotel iteself is beautiful, new hotel and very well looked after. The room was beautiful and the beds were comfortable. We thoughoughly enjoyed our evening there.
Even though we missed the continental breakfast, they had not packed up yet and said we were welcome to help ourselves. Lots to choose from and I was impressed with it, no stale old food, everything was fresh and delicious.
I would definately stay here again!!

All by itself on a clearing in an industrial are. When we arrived there was only one car in the lot...I thought it might no be open. No signage on the highway...we drove by viewing it on the left but unable to turn around for a few miles. Then we couldn't find an access road...no wonder there were no cars.
Nothing to complain about inside...room clean, staff friendly. although the pool was closed (apparently has been for a long time). Breakfast adequate.
