“Home away from home”

We were looking for a B&B near Deep Cove because we were going to attend a wedding held at Muse Winery. We booked the Alder Road Retreat online from Manitoba, in order to be close to the Muse Winery. I was impressed with the quick response to my e-mail and found Brenda to be very helpful with directions and questions I had about the area.

Once we arrived, we felt right at home, fresh homemade baked goods were waiting for us and the room was cozy and comfortable. The communal living room offered us privacy and a comfortable space to gather with our friends who were staying in the adjacent room. It was the perfect place to stay with another couple.

Every morning we looked forward to the fresh fruit, cheese, home made granola and other goodies stocked in our communal space. It was also really nice to be able to come 'home' at the end of the day and have a snack and a cup of tea before bed. Brenda was super helpful with odds and ends we needed in preparation for the wedding. The bride was getting ready with us the day of the wedding and our room was able to accommodate three girls doing their make up together in the spacious washroom.

We had a wonderful time at the Alder Road Retreat, thank you for your excellent service.
Marianne M.

Wonderful stay, at BnB, where there was no schedule. Could come and go as we pleased without being there on a schedule as we had our own outside entrance.
Warm muffins greated our arrival, with cookies and juice to enjoy
Breakfast of fresh scones and pastries and homemade jellies - what a treat.
Quiet, peaceful, outside ambience made sitting outside watching ducks in the pond...was that an otter? blackberries ripe on the corner, delicious to eat off the bush.
Trickling waterfall calming.
And NO TV in our room was great.
Nice, large community room. sat for hours chatting with our other guests by the fireplace (with tv off)
Easy drive from Sidney ferry and easy to get to downtown Victoria and Burchard Gardens.
Friends and family will hear about how great is the host and the stay. Will return for sure.

Room Tip: No pools, maybe quiet for children, but great for couples Bed very comfortable, quiet night

Brenda made us feel at home. The rooms were outstanding. The food for mornings was very good--from breads to cake and serials. Over all a great Continental breakfast was very good.

The serenity of the location and the country feeling was excellent. Just like Walden Pond.

Thanks Brenda for making our stay a good memory.

How peaceful and beautiful! Beds were ultra-comfortable, accomodations and space were well appointed. B&B owner most gracious and accomodating, really made us feel we had a friend to advise us what else to do/see/etc. Pond nearby was a beautiful sight. Close to town. Nothing we could detect that was negative about any part of the experience. We're anxious to return and stay here again.

One of the most hospitable and pretty B&Bs I've stayed in. Extremely welcoming and generous hosts. A lovely retreat with beautiful gardens, large pond and quiet outdoor sitting areas, yet only 10 minutes from Victoria Airport. Just a great find. Our stay was too short and this B&B will be on my definite "stay again" list next time I get to the coast. Highly recommended.

The house is unbelievalbe - a dream, plenty of room to spread out. House and amenities were all top notch. Spectacular sunsets and views. The owners were extremely gracious and helpful. They were also very prompt to return phone calls and e-mails with answers to questions.
I would highly recommend this property for large families.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Alder Road Retreat and highly recommend. We appreciated the quiet and tranquil surroundings of the beautiful countryside. Brenda, the owner, was a a pleasure to meet and made us feel warm and welcome as soon as we arrived. The room was lovely; spacious, beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable bed with a private ensuite bath with high end amenities. The owner's personal touches made our stay such a wonderful experience. The location is in close proximity to the Victoria airport, ferry terminal and short drives to so many great sites. You must visit Sydney by the Sea which is a delightful little town. I look forward to my next visit.
