We stayed here for the Roots & Blues Festival, which was close by (there was a free shuttle bus as well). Very helpful and friendly staff who were well into the spirit of the festival. A lot of the performers were staying here (including one of our group) and everyone was in a party spirit. A good chance to meet with the artists 'off piste' and listen to some amazing impromptu gigs in the foyer. Right on the lake, the views are breathtaking and there was an osprey nest right outside our window - what a bonus! The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Although there was a balcony, there was no access from our room which was a bit disappointing and we could only open the window a tiny bit (prefer 'real air' to aircon). Bed was comfy though.
There is only one elevator in this hotel, which is used by both guests and housekeeping, so it's very, very slow. The hotel isn't very high, thank goodness, so the stairs down was the only way to get anywhere quickly. Not much the hotel can do about this I guess.
The other downer was the restaurant - where were all the breakfast staff? The must have know they would be nearly full, yet the poor servers were run ragged trying to do their job. On the first morning there were only two of them for a practically full restaurant. Was slight better the other two mornings, but not much (one of the servers had to give up her day off to come in). Better planning needed here. Breakfasts were very hearty and there was a good choice - but as per comments above, took quite a time.
Lovely walks in the area and plenty of nature to see. Indoor/outdoor pool was great and not busy at all. Didn't have time to try the other amenties, but there was a large gym as well as a very reasonably priced spa.

Room Tip: Beware of the slow lift and lakeside rooms that have a window onto a balcony but actually no access.

I am glad that you had a great time during the Roots & Blues festival! An annual event, we love being privy to impromptu concerts in the lobby or even on the patio. We are fortunate that artists are generous with showcasing their talents! I have passed your comments on to the restaurant management team for further review. Thank you for choosing to stay with us, we hope to see you again soon! - Sonu Murphy

Had a great stay in this lovely hotel. Very helpful staff and great amenities. Nicely located.....close to everything. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone that has the budget for it as it is a little bit costly.

We needed a place to stay for one night to break up our drive home after our honeymoon and Salmon Arm was pretty close to the halfway mark of our trip. We booked a deluxe king room with balcony and lakefront view as we wanted a nice room to end our honeymoon trip with. Due to a late start on Vancouver Island we did not get to the hotel until very late but the staff were ready and waiting for us. The front desk staff were very friendly and even asked us how our trip was. We made it up to the room and were very pleasantly surprised with the room we had. It was very clean - even the corners were dust free. The bed was well made and the sheets and pillow cases were clean and free of stains. Our bathroom was huge. The shower and the soaker tub were both spotless. When we used the tub and the shower we discovered the cold water tap on the soaker tub seeped at the base and the one corner of the shower next to the bath also leaked a little but these were minor issues and did not impact our stay. The real gem of our room was the lake view with the patio. We enjoyed watching the birds and the view while enjoying our morning coffee. We left the hotel wishing we could spend another day just so we could have another morning with coffee on the balcony. All around this was a great stay and we would do it again.

Room Tip: Even though they are a bit more expensive go for a deluxe king room with a lakeside view and balcony...

Fantastic hotel choice for those staying in Salmon Arm for the music festival. Service (front desk) was great, pool is quiet, and the lake view is phenomenal. No bugs or smell from the marshy lakeshore - just great bird watching. With the patio doors closed, you can sleep late without being bothered by any noise. Open the patio doors for a cool breeze and wake up to the birds.
Artists abound - loved hearing sound-checks, impromptu rehearsals, and someone working out a riff on the piano! Laid back luxury. Had a very adult feel - I saw no kids other than babes in arms.
Kind of pricey, but worth it for the atmosphere.
My one (small) issue is the pillows seemed really poor - upgrade for next year please?

Obviously they are working very hard on improvements. Probably the carpet would be the next thing to go. The bathroom is immaculate, as is the painting/tiling job in the room. Beds are comfy, and the fridge and microwave are a great idea. Room 203, walls are thin, so we were able to hear neighbors, but a good little rest stop on the drive from whistler to Calgary. View was nice, were able to watch the osprey, and the grounds are pleasant. Wifi is offered, elevator is slow, however front staff were friendly. It was during the roots/blues festival?, we were recommended to go to the Italian restaurant, not a person in the place, but they were fully booked? turned away 3 couples within 1 minute. We went back to wicked spoon. All in all, if they keep improving this place will be a true "resort".

The location of this hotel is great, however it could use some attention from a decent manager.
While the view is fantastic, one can't help but notice how dirty the windows are. Some staff take their jobs seriously and provide great service while others are too 'laxed' and need to learn a little about hospitality. The rooms are mostly clean until you look a little harder into the corners etc. again, requiring just a little more attention to detail. With a small amount of effort, this place could be a gem. The rooms are a little noisy as the in room HVAC system is quite loud when running.

Room Tip: Pay the extra $25 and get a lake view.

Upon our arrival not only was the room not ready, but we were double booked with two reservation... We did not have enough towels, bedding for our family, the coffee machine was not cleaned and had to ask for a coffee package and received only one. Getting to our room was an experience in itself, as there was only one elevator available and was being used constantly by the hotel staff. It took 10 minutes to get to our room that was located on the fourth floor. The pool was freezing and the skim line in the hot tub was yellow. This should NOT be considered a resort.
