“Keep driving...”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

So, we stayed here because we were tired driving from Vancouver. We should have kept driving, or picked a place earlier like the Noah's ark place. I'm sure most places would be better. The staff member at the desk assured us we'd be in a quiet room, we wouldn't even hear the highway etc... Well, that was definitely not the case, as we could hear the highway clearly from our room, and the train rumbled our whole room every 20 minutes too (not exactly a nice massage). We ate in the restaurant (our server was very helpful and friendly) but the food was really average. When we checked out, the staff member asked how our stay was. I honestly responded that we didn't sleep well because of the highway and train (which we didn't know about ahead of time) and she responded very apathetically, and did not offer to compensate us at all, not even an apology. We got the feeling they must get complaints a lot... So, if you can keep driving, do. This place is not worth the money and it is not dripping in "charm" as they like to try to sell it to you.

This hotel has an amazing location. As an Albertan with family in BC, I've spent many road trips as a passerby to this hotel and thought it looked like it would be a wonderful retreat.

Recently we decided to treat ourselves and make it a rest stop and stay the night here.

We had excellent service checking in and felt very welcomed by the front desk. The restaurant was closed for the evening and we wanted a glass of wine, the front desk gal made arrangements for us to purchase a bottle from them which was nice as the only other option would have been to drive back to Revelstoke (about 20 minutes away).

The hotel itself.... Beautiful location, friendly staff... But SO odd. The hallways are mismatched, uneven and windy. It would be very easy to get disoriented. There are recreational areas that were home to old random ottomans that gave it a hostel/dorm room feel. There was a hot water spout down one hallway for no apparent reason. Flea market looking decor. An organ. Indoor gardens with lawn ornaments. One hallway completely boarded off.

The room itself was large and fairly clean looking. But so dated and again, oddly shaped and up a flight of stairs and difficult to find. I saw an elevator going down one hall, and our room was large enough to accommodate a wheelchair but truthfully I don't know where the elevator went to and which hallways would match up with it.

In summary, we had an awesome evening exploring and laughing at the eccentricity of it all. It felt like being in the Shining. I love that we stayed here, but I am glad we were only in it for a one nighter and are unlikely to return.

We stayed here on the way to the Rockies. I stayed here many years before and it has improved and expanded very well.
Excellent location with very good mountain vistas.
Full amenities and very family friendly.

Room Tip: Wifi is only available in the lobby. Our room did not have air conditioning.

Wow. This place has potential. What a great location. Beautiful.
Go into the hotel ..... Wow what a disappointment. I will never ever stay here again. In bad bad need of renovations is all I can say. The rooms are do old and outdated with filthy couch etc. Restaurant on site was not great. Edible. Ghost town was cute. Again, could use a little effort to be cleaned up a bit. Great potential that is not being taken advantage of.

We drive from Vancouver Island to Calgary about four times a year to visit family and every time we drive by we comment to each other that we should stop there again. The last time was in 1977. So we did. It is a funky, interesting, unusual and very welcoming place. Yes it is right on the Trans Canada Highway but the sound seemed to not matter or it was just not too loud. The restaurant was excellent and in the morning with our three young grand daughters we felt part of one huge family. There must have been 25 other small children there as well. We began to wonder if Three Valley Gap wasn't a secret kept by young families travelling as they know they will just fit in and no one will make a fuss.
The rooms are comfortable and quiet and you might be lucky like we were to watch two climbers scale the sheer rock wall to the south.

It's hard to describe this truly beautiful but enigmatic establishment. Fortunately our guide filled us in on the history of the guy who built the hotel and all the strange collections of just about anything interesting he could lay his hands on. The place seems to be run by a team of enthusiastic geriatrics. Go into the cafe first and gaze at the wondrous view of the lake, beachfront and old world hotel and of course, the stream train sitting in the middle of the gardens. The ghost town next door needs a couple hours at least to absorb the lunacy of the place. There are collections of genuine artefacts housed in appropriate or totally inappropriate old cabins. Barber shops, saloons, livery stables and a multitude of other little buildings, and just when you think you've seen it all there is the roundhouse. The huge building houses a vast collection of antique train carriages, which you can wander round, steam trains and god knows what else. It really is a mind blowing assembly of memorabilia. I cannot stress how much I enjoyed this jumble of madness set in one of the beautiful locations in Canada.

I have always seen this place from the road and we needed a place to stay for our family of four (a baby and a toddler). I decided to book it on a whim, and then read the Tripadvisor reviews. I'm actually glad I did this in the wrong order, because the reviews weren't super positive but we had such a great time here!

The place is a bit older but still beautiful! We got a room on the ground floor that opened to the courtyard / garden with a glimpse of the lake and mountains. It was quite pretty. There is a little patio outside each room with two lawn chairs. The room was ample-sized and had a great comfy sofa chair. Our toddler certainly loved this place...from the train set in the lobby to the playground to the beach to the pool to the kayaking. There was just so much to do for kids here. And when my husband and toddler went to rent the kayak (at a very reasonable $10 / 30min), they told me they have an infant lifejacket so that we could try to take our baby and toddler together out on their paddle boat. It was so great to be able to do an activity as a family without having sit on the sidelines with the baby...and that is exactly what the staff explained was their reason for having the gear available. This place definitely has a family focus (they make sure to tell their guests this), which we appreciate. We did not eat here so I can't comment on the food but we enjoyed the other ameneties they had to offer. We would definitely come back!
