“High end Ski in Ski out”
Reviewed 8 January 2014

This Hotel is idealy locates at the bottom o the Revelstoke ski ressort. It offers great suites with 1-2-3-4-5 bedrtooms. We had a 2 bedroom suite and were impressed with what we got. It's modern yet warm and very spacious. We even have a washer and dryer in the room with a fully equiped kitchen. The Spa and fitness rooms are nice and the service is great!. I highly recomment this hotel. Don't stay in town, stay in the ressort instead!

Room Tip: Ask for a mountain view room in building 2 (where the pool is)

We were on the third floor two bedroom king suite, it included a kitchen and dining room. it was very warm in the room and we turned off the heat and opened the door. There was a constant dripping of water onto a metal roof below. it was very loud! we didn't check to see if the unit had air conditioning. we just kept the door or window open and some of us got use to the dripping. Others in the group didn't sleep well. Wonderful ski hill and easy to get to the lifts. The TV channels had terrible reception in the rooms and in the BAR. A big bummer for new years day football!

We went to Revelstoke at the end of December 2013 because it had the most snow. We decided to stay at the Sutton Place as it is the only ski-in / ski-out option. We had a great time and were definitely glad we chose the Sutton Place.
The hotel is new, built approximately 5-7 years ago... they have a beautiful lobby, great hot tub/pool area and beautiful rooms.
Revelstoke is a small town, but its definitely nice to stay right on the mountain. Its located approximately 2kms from downtown. The hotel provides shuttles or you can take a cab for dinner and drinks in town, or there is the restaurant at the base that is a great option.
A few recommendations:
-the hotel rooms have options with a kitchen. The kitchens are great and its really nice to have a breakfast option. They have lots of kitchenwares but definitely bring food and anything else you would want.
-Catskiing / Heliskiing is great and uses great terrain
-The Village Idiot, 112 Steakhouse and the sushi restaurant are all great dinner options
-The hotel rooms are minimally cleaned unless you ask specifically. All of the staff is very friendly and helpful though

Room Tip: Room with a kitchen is a must!

We didn't look at any other hotels in revelstoke, so it may be the best option but there are a few things that aren't my favorite. First the positives: hotel is on the hill, amazing to bring your own lunch/dinner especially if one of your party is a cook! Fantastically convenient for everyone is they want to ski half days or take a bit of a break. The room finishings were nice with most things you would want be available.

First part I didn't like was the housekeeping, they wouldn't make our bed unless we took everything off the bed ( both my wife and I travel a lot +100nights in hotels a yr and this hasn't happened to us). Also the housekeeping still hadn't made up our room by the time we finished skiing for the day at 330 pm on of the days.

Second, it was a bit warm so our rooms were next to constant dripping of melting snow. We had to keep our window open otherwise it would get extremely warm (24C) in the rooms, which kept it very loud when trying to sleep. And I don't mean this is like some small dripping from a faucet, but rather water running off and landing on a roof/patio area, about a level down from our condo.

The hot tubs they had were nice especially after a day of skiing.

This is a great ski resort, well worth the drive from Calgary. More snow in the time we were there than we can see all winter in Alberta. The Sutton Place on the hill is a great place. Very top quality. They are like mini high end condos with all the fixings. You get what you pay for because it was not cheap, but it was over the school break and they were very nice so one would expect higher prices. Still cheaper than getting on some cattle car in the air to go to Mexico or some other sun destination. Service excellent at the Sutton Place for the hotel itself, alhough there was no PPV in the room or not that I could figure out. It would have been nice to watch a movie one night. The service at the skill hill for those services always seemed a bit disorganized. The rental shop and tickets sales needs a bit of work.

They take dogs which is important to me. Stopped going to Fernie because we now have a dog and they cannot seem to figure out how to work that into their accommodations on the hill, stange place at times Fernie. Also, day lodge and pub on the hill at Fernie is a dump. After being in Revelstoke, not sure I would ever return to Fernie to be honest.

The resort is closer to Whistler, same "highend" feel but much smaller and without the the full retail and services, which was nice in some ways. Whistler is quite unique it that regard and fastastic because of the night life, but at the same time staying right on the hill in Whistler is very expensive and can be very noisy because of all the services in the villiage. This report has a very nice restaurant and a separate pub on the hill, which are really good (and sooo much nicer than Fernie!!), but otherwise you have to go into town to get any other food or pubs. This resort was a really nice compromise.

Room Tip: Room facing the hill

Just one night on travel back to USA when ski season was off. Modern room "condo style" with all the necessary and the unnecessary. Very clean equipment. Perfect silence. Devoted staff. Correct restaurant. Free underground garage. Breakfast is served in a building apart after a small journey in cable railway. It could be a pleasant idea but unfortunately the -too small- outside terrace is crowded so it's quite useless if you want to enjoy the view.

My husband and I just spent a wonderful, exhilarating, magical, terrifying day on the slopes at Revelstoke. The terrifying only comes from my being a beginner skier, who gets a little nervous when there are multitudes of experts whizzing by at high speed and when she accidentally ended up on a black run (but survived!). More signage, please. However, I am supposed to be reviewing the accommodations, not the skiing, so:

We are staying in a one-bedroom suite. It's spacious, has a view of the ski hill, and is very well-equipped. We are here for just two nights, but a stay of a week or much longer would be easy peasy - the room has everything: washer/dryer, dishes, full kitchen, big bathroom. Appliances are high end, bathroom floor is heated, counter top is granite, wine glasses are Reidel. It's lovely, and the only place to stay on the mountain. Come and enjoy!
