A pleasant, quiet, off-the-main-road place to stay, either for a weekend break or overnight. Having driven Hwy 1 Calgary-Vancouver and back many times over the decades, we didn't realise that this quiet retreat existed just 10 minutes' drive off Hwy 1. The surrounding scenery is spectacular, especially when you look past the numerous Hydro lines marching up and down the mountains from the Revelstoke Dam out to numerous places further afield. I would feel nervous staying in that area and at the GHR during severe summer thunder and lightning storms. The evening we stayed at GHR, there was a power outage owing to high winds. The resort has generators and management were working hard to bring necessary power back. Our room was clean and comfortable. We eat in the dining room, our meal was ok, easier to eat at the resort than to travel into town and back. Lovely to watch the hummingbirds and other wildlife visiting the grounds. I'd recommend the GHR not only for an overnight stay during a road trip, but also as a good choice for family get-togethers, corporate retreats/workshops and similar. There are walking trails around the resort but please be well-prepared and aware of bears and other wildlife in the vicinity. All the helpful staff we met were friendly and professional.

If you are looking for a cozy (hotel room) or more rustic (cabin) spot to enjoy your mountain adventure this is the place. Mountain sleds are on site for rent and you can sled right from the outside your heated cabin that is also equipped with your individual hot tub just outside the door. Awesome! Staff are friendly and the new owners are serious about providing great customer service and an experience you won't forget.

Room Tip: Individual cabins are also available and this is a pet friendly resort.

We stayed for two nights.Oct 17 and 18th as my Girlfriend had a work retreat..its a short drive off the highway on a paved Road..Maybe 10 minutes.Upon arrival we were impressed just driving up.The main building consists of several rooms, the restaurant ,Bar,Swimming Pool,Sauna and Hot Tub.there are also several separate Cabins around the grounds ranging in various sizes. They will hold between 4-12 people comfortably and it looks like most(if not all Cabins) ,Have their own Hot tubs.We stayed in A King Bed Room with a very cozy Fireplace.very roomy and also a Futon couch to sleep 2 more people

The New Owner greeted us and was very accommodating and friendly.he gave us a tour around the property.Nice size Pool and Hot tub( also there is a dry Sauna).. So would be a great end of day place to soak after a day of Sledding.

There is a separate building that houses the Adventure Shop...where you can get oil and gas for your Sleds...They have several Mountain Sleds for rent, along with all necessary Skidoo suits, gloves,Helmets and Gloves to rent or Purchase, along with trained Tour Guides to take you out for breathtaking views of the surrounding Mountains. You can sled right out your door and basically right onto the trails leading to the Mountains,so it's a one stop Destination as you won't have to drive your vehicle and sleds to staging area.

Also after a day of Sledding ,they have a great Restaurant complete with a Chef and a separate Bar.

Good to see this Resort is under new Ownership, along with all new Staff.we cannot wait to come back in Winter and experience all Glacier House Resort has to offer.

We will be back.!!!!

We had never been to Canada before, it was always on our list. My wife & i did a round trip through the rockies and stayed at Revelstoke Glacier House Hotel on the way back to Calgary. It was so peaceful, off season I know, but weather was lovely. Checked in with Joy the receptionist...waitress....housekeeper...tour guide/ advisor....and goodness knows what else she does, but lovely young lady and a pleasure to deal with. Nothing to do with the fact she is also a fellow Brit!!! Hotel was very clean, pool facillities were good, room was fantastic with balcony over the back garden with a beautiful view of the mountains, Joy offered us the upgrade at a very reasonable price, which we jumped at. Restaurant food and service was very good....never had pepper on ice cream before...but it certainly works! Shame we were only using it as a one night stopover, but we will come back to explore the area with more time, would love to see it in winter, it must be fantastic. Thanks for everything.

Room Tip: Try for the King with the rear balcony. Fantastic room & view.

The brochure sounded so nice. I booked through booking.com, got a Queen room for one night for my husband and me. We came in right at check-in time, got to our room, but unfortunately it was a 'handicapped accessible' room. No closet, only one easy chair for reading, and there was no lamp near the chair. Very poor lighting in the room. No towel hook or towel bar near the shower in the bathroom. Satellite tv did not provide many good channels, and we had to have the hotel IT guy come to our room to even get it on. The instructions for the remote did not match the tv or the remote in the room. Due to the licensing laws, we could not drink our wine in the lobby which had sofas and reading chairs and a big fireplace (not lit, even though it was a cool and rainy evening.) On the plus side, our dinner was quite good, in a lovely dining room environment. The hotel lacks in what I think of as welcoming amenities to make guests feel comfortable. No pictures on the walls anywhere. No lobby coffee/tea. The brochure says there is a coffee/espresso bar in the lobby. It was not open. There was supposed to be a fireplace in the room, no f/p. There was a bar/pub in the brochure. Not open. In short, not the greatest place based on what we expected it to be. It seems it is trying to be something but falling short.

Room Tip: Specify you do not want the handicap room, unless you actually need it. There were no other rooms av...

This resort was much better that what we expected. We had a small cottage (2 adults + 3 children) which was just great. It felt like it was new. Very comfortable and very nice. We made a good use of their swimming pool, of their spa and sauna.

Room Tip: We had a cabin and it was great. It is better than the picture offered on the hotel web site, which...

Travelling from BC - NB with two adults and two dogs, we stopped in almost every province: this was our first stop.
- Don’t be worried - a bit out of the way, borderline sketchy, but it’s such a pleasant surprise when you get there. The location is very remote and beautiful
- easy check in, Lauren was extremely helpful and accommodating
- do NOT book through expedia – we booked through there and was given completely wrong information, almost had to find a different place because of dogs but she found a room and gave it to us for a reasonable price (since the upgrade cost us a bit) Helpful Tip: If the price on expedia is lower than what the hotel website says call the Hotel directly and ask them if they can give you the price on expedia. They will most likely lower the price!
- Make sure you check that you have a pet friendly room if that’s what you need – if you bring pets into non-pet friendly rooms there is a $200 fine. The fee for pets is $20 per pet
- The room we stayed is was 110 – a cabin. It was very spacious and clean. Has everything you would need. Nothing too fancy but very homey
- Only thing it didn’t have that we would see in other places is a mini fridge and microwave. There was a coffee maker in the bathroom that worked perfectly
- The shower’s water pressure wasn’t my favourite but it wasn’t unbearably weak
- The beds were okay, and we were in a room with two beds between two people so we had many pillows to choose from
- We did not try their breakfast there as we were on a tight budget – we were told it was free by the expedia agent – however the charge is $12.50 a person. It might be worth checking out if your planning on buying breakfast anyway. Breakfast was served in a nice sit down restaurant area.
- The hot tub, pool, and sauna were very clean so relaxing, and they had pool towels at the front desk so you don't have to use your room towels.
- We Paid 138 plus tax – then had to pay 69 for upgrade fee

Overall it was quite pricy, however the privacy of the cabin, use of the pool, spa and hot tub and the friendly staff made it worth it.

Room Tip: As mentioned above - do not book through expedia!
