“Nice, great restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2010

My husband and I stayed here for two nights while road tripping (Vancouver - Icefields Parkway - Banff - Okanagan/Kelowna - Vancouver).

It was nicely laid out and decorated. Our room was clean, tidy and en-suite. The toiletries were also very nice. We ate in the restaurant there too - we hadn't intended as it was pricey and we were on a budget, but there wasn't much else available in the town. I am VERY glad we did. The waitress was charming, the wine was gorgeous and I had the best steak I have ever had in my life!

We didn't have access to the internet and they only had an outside hot tub that was a stones throw away from the car park and train lines, but those were the only downsides.

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the years mostly due to the location (one block off main street) and always found it to be fine. This time while traveling with 2 other couples we obviously chose the Regent due to again the location but were disappointed compared to the other places we stayed while on this trip. The Regent's breakfast was a huge disappointment when comparing it to the Best Western's we stayed at in Canada and the United States. The service was okay but very limited amenities in the rooms. Only one bar of soap for both the sink and bath tub, one shampoo and that was it. No lotion. The room was okay and the bed fine as well. Still great location but may look at a Best Western next time.

Based on TripAdvisor reviews we were planning on staying at the Swiss Chalet Motel, but after driving through Revelstoke we decided that it was too far out of the centre of town, so we decided to ignore the bad reviews and take a chance on The Regent Inn...

The good stuff:
We were strangers to Revelstoke, and after driving through town for the first time it became clear that The Regent Inn was in the most central and "safest" location (as we didn't want to roam around town for dinner and drinks.) Everything is right on the doorstep and there is plenty of free parking. It also has a good bar downstairs

The bad stuff:
We stayed in 2 different rooms - the first one was extremely dated and didn't look like it had been decorated since the 80's! The second room was a lot nicer but still not up to modern day standards. Having said that, both rooms were clean and comfortable

Conclusion:
The hotel is overpriced, but if you can afford to blow the cash then it's a comfortable night's stay in a central location. If you're the kind of person that want's to go to bed at 9pm after a day's skiing then it's probably not for you! But it's certainly not "rowdy"

P.S.
The bar does get full at times, but to be fair, the hotel staff fore-warned us about it and we didn't experience any problems sleeping (especially after a few beers ourselves!)

We went on a two week road trip and Revelstoke was near the end of road for us. So far we were very lucky and happy finding rooms on the fly. Checked out the Days Inn and it was nice, not bad but wanted something a bit nicer. Regent Inn is more expensive but seemed nicer. Well, not so; wish I looked around a bit more or even went back to Days Inn. "Room with qeen bed" is not a queen bed. I think they try to trick people who have been driving for many hours that a double bed is a queen. Very very noisy. Walls are paper thin. Ran the water for 15min before getting hot water in the bathroom. TV was at a tilt because the building is old and the room floor is slanted. News station playing on clock radion in next room could be heard clearly in my room. Oh, and absolutely no outlets to plug in the laptop. Free wireless internet, but no outlets.

Stayed here on a short trip away. Room was a little small but decided to take it when offered a good price $109 + taxes. Other places in area were the same price and cheaper option were very run down.

Room has a comfortable queen size bed and hotel staff were happy to give us more pillows for it. LCD tv was a nice to watch movies from the laptop. Grapefruit shower gel was devine. Room was clean too.

Unfortunatley we had a view of the extraction/aircon vents which were noisy and vibrated in our room. We also had an ice machine next to us which was noisy when it filled and when people were taking ice.

To top it off we were woken a 9am by cleaners vacuuming the hallway outside our room. we realise they have work to do but surely that could have been left till after checkout time.

Other than that the girl on the front desk was really nice and her manner was above and beyond any other front desk staff in all the other hotels/motels we check out in the area. she was probably the main reason we stayed in this hotel.

I realize that options are limited, but this isn't a great hotel. Don't be fooled by the website's description of "historic charm and elegance". This place is dated, small and in need of major updates. The rooms are very small and decorated similar to what you'd expect in a college dorm. Great location and good restaurant however.

This is a pleasant place to stay - we were there for three nights and managed to survive it raining most of the time. The rooms are nicely done up (but some do have bad views of air-conditioning units, ours didn't); only gripe is that there is no kettle for making tea or coffee, or a fridge (you are expected to go to their restaurant for this). They help you to get the most out of the stay by lending reasonable mountain bikes and by giving passes to use the local swimming pool for free. The restaurant is excellent, but the breakfast was disappointing - junk food in a soulless fuction room with a television blaring non-stop in the corner, definitely not a pleasant start to the day.
