“An interesting story”

A great place to visit on a wet & rainy day, most of the attraction is indoors with only a swift ( and optional ) trip to the dam itself being outside.

If you have any interest in civil engineering then its worth a visit. There is also a lot of information about energy & energy conservation.

The video about the last turbine is worth a watch as it gives you an idea just how much work needs to be done to build something like this.

The dam is well worth visiting just north of Revelstoke . the movie is worth taking the time to watch . The trip to the top of the dam gives you a great view over the whole area .It also shows a full map of the Columbia river .

“fun for kids and parents”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2014

Just a few minutes north of Revelstoke, the dam is an engineering marvel. The view from the top is spectacular and the interactive exhibits kept the children engaged. The video showing the transportation and addition of the fifth generator pipe was very impressive.
I was a bit disappointed that despite the signs showing the lifecycle of salmon and the importance of the river for first nations fisheries the dam has no accommodation for fish migration. The staff were also quite unaware of the fish in the river, making the fishery display feel rather contrived.

“Worth the trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014

Really interesting. Be sure to watch the video in the theatre. The trip to the top in the elevator provides an amazing view, and you get a better sense of the size of the dam. Lots of interactive things for the kiddies. The staff were fantastic, knowledgeable, and super professional in demeanour.

We got to see how the Dam works and lots of information all the way on this self guided tour. We also got to go right to the top of the Dam which was nice. My kids also injoyed a scavenger hunt that was going on just for that weekend.
