Williamson's Lake Campground
Reviewed 24 July 2013

this was our second time staying at this campground and both times were very enjoyable. the hosts are extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the area.the lake is small but has a great beach .the lake is also a public beach but most locals are very respectful of the campground guests.the quiet time rule is strictly enforced which makes getting a good nights sleep very easy.the washrooms were very clean all though outdated .there is a small store on site as well as a lunch counter which has a small menu consisting of fish and chips, chicken strips, burgers and onion rings.there is a nice new playground for the younger kids as well as volley ball nets are in place.there is also a mini golf on site that charges a very reasonable fee to play.i would not hesitate to return to this campground again as we were treated like family by all the staff.

All the previous reviews are correct. It is a small campground and it can be crowded but we love it anyways. This campground is a familiar and pleasant stop for us almost every year. The lake is small but relatively warm and the water quality has always been okay to swim in. We love swimming to the rocks and water fall on the opposite side. It is not next to railway tracks which so many mountain campsites are. Even though it is crowded it has never been noisy at night. The washrooms are clean. Revelstoke is a charming small city that we enjoy. The view from the top of Mount Revelstoke is spectacular and you can drive almost to the top - 26 km. A visit to the dam is quite interesting. The Railway Museum is interesting too. The same person has operated this campground for many years and he does a great job. So if you keep your expectations realistic and enjoy what the campground does offer you will probably have an enjoyable stay.

We booked one night at this campground as a stopover on our way out to Vancouver Island. I chose this campground because it's right in town and has a little lake. We booked a reservation well in advance and were at the campsite by 5pm. We arrived to find the campground jammed full of tents and RVs. It's basically a grass lot with side by side stalls. No privacy and no shelter.
My husband and I were willing to overlook the parking lot style sites as it was for one night and we just wanted to go for a swim and play some mini-golf.

We went to check-in and had to wait around for staff to show up at the office. When they finally arrived and we gave them our reservation info, we were told that there was no site for us. They admitted that we they had our reservation number and name in the book but someone had failed to transfer our reservation to an actual site. You have a website... Try upgrading to a computer based booking program and not using coiled notebooks. Initially the owner just looked at us as if it was our bad luck and expected us to just leave. Only when my husband pointed out that it was their error and asked what they were going to do did he offer to call around and find us a site. We ended up at some little campground with no lake, no fire pit, no privacy and a ton of mosquitoes. We were given some half-hearted apology and sent on our way.

I noticed in the short time we were there, that this campground is well-used. Everything is worn and somewhat under maintained. The bathroom I used was messy and based on the cleanliness of the showers I would have skipped mine in the morning. However the lake is great and there are ample activities to keep you entertained if you stay there.

The website make it look awesome, but we were disappointed, being stuck in a tent between two loud RV groups. Kids yelling through the trees at night playing hide and seek, and adults cackling loudly all night as well. Not a great sleep for us. Would have left but had pre-booked and were too tired to keep travelling. My kid liked it though, because he liked the playground and mini-golf.

My boyfriend and I could only stay for one night as we are on a road trip, but the view was amazing, the owners are so friendly and welcoming, they alone make me want to come back. The campsites are a little close together but there are a fair amount of trees and terrain, so we didn't mind. We will be back!

Not a super-high-class campground, but a good, solid 'Chevy'. Clean, well-laid out, good facilities, seemed well-managed. Tent areas are well-shaded and along the shore of a small, lovely lake on soft grass (watch the moon rise over the hills on the are side!). There's a coin laundry, a good playground for younger children, swimming in the lake and free hot showers(!). We'd be happy to stay there again.

This private campground is small and quiet.

The small lake is more like a very large swimming hole with a dock and platform.

The campsites are set along the lake edge with some very large trees providing some shade. The view of the mountains is terrific.

The showers and bathrooms are some of the cleanest if have ever seen at a campsite.

The shop has most of what you might forget and the mini-golf course is a quick distraction.

There are a few canoes and small boats here as well.

It is just south of "town" and still close enough to the sites. It was worth the camping fees.

By the way there were plenty of RV sites here too.
