Review of K3 Catskiing

K3 Catskiing

The snow was good. The cats well equipped including the food. They were running 2 cats off of the same start point. It was a crap shoot which cat we ended up in and we drew the short straw. Our cat had some pretty intermediate skiers whose pace was S-L-O-W and as tourists, they compounded the problem with stopping to take group pictures and videos which took ridiculous amounts of time. We didn't get a lot of vertical as a result which was disappointing. The guiding was not what I expected. Given the talent (or lack there of) of the group, the guide would bomb off and couldn't be heard to keep track of the group which inevitably ended up very spread out. On a couple of occasions, we had to wait and search for lost lambs. Safety training was as expected. While I love the option of day skiing, I think it attracts some folks who would do well to stay on resort and not ruin the rest of the guests trip. People seemed to come here to cut their teeth in the back country. I just wish they didn't have my wallet in their mouth. We will stick to heli next time out - it weeds out the wanna be powder skiers.

Operation is run well: very safe and professional. Definitely go with these guys when the snow is good, and they will get you on awesome terrain.
The crew looked for good snow, but the conditions were poor. When someone on our cat asked if we could do shorter runs and stay on the better snow up top, the crew said that was not an option. They appeared to be attempting to preserve terrain for subsequent days and more than half of every run was not fresh tracks or was on crusty garbage. Fair enough, it IS a business, but all backcountry operations I have been with acknowledge poor conditions and give you options and K3 did not. It would have been better if they offered us spring price to acknowledge the very spring-like conditions. We have done 1 heli and 8 catski trips and this was the 7th worst. #8 at least offered us a discount because the snow was not great and the day was short.

I went here with a crew of buddies from BC in Feb 2013. It was awesome! We had great conditions, safe guides, intermediate to advanced terrain, and tons of excellent powder. Our guides were decent the first day, and excellent the second and third. Can't wait to go back soon (Feb 2014)...this is likely to become an annual event.

I've just completed another couple of single cat skiing days with the great team at K3!

Again, the pick up from your hotel and lift for fifty minutes drive from Revvy to the Monashees is easy and really comfortable. The cat skiing terrain is awesome and Larry the chief guide is a star! He's one of the most respected and experienced guide in his field. He just has a great attitude and makes the days so so enjoyable.

The rest of the team, are terrific.

The terrain is outstanding, the snow mostly is awesome (it's been a tough January !) and the runs are good fun. The cats set up is perfect and very comfortable. Food is plentiful and yummy, as you eat on the go.

Overall, these guys will build a lodge out here one day, so please still do the day trips please for this staying in Revvy!!!

Dave and team deliver you a great experience that is well, well worth the value.

Hope this helps....

Cheers...Greg

Just finished two days with these guys and we loved it. Didn't get a ton of vertical because of warm temps recently but the staff were all amazing and managed to find us plenty of amazing snow!
