We took the McLean Steam Sawmill excursion while on a cruise with NCL. Volunteers did an exceptional job promoting tourism in BC and giving the history of the mill. Great bus ride to the train and then a ride on the Steam Locomotive, saw some great scenery on the ride to the mill. Also very accommodating for people that are challenged with stairs and walking. This is a definite must when in Nanaimo.

Great day out, good and informative staff and plenty to see and do. Allow quite a long time for the train journey and the view to the mill. I would recommend to others.

Enthusiastic staff and volunteers do a fabulous job of maintaining this musuem and telling its story. Be sure to check their schedule and fares online. We really enjoyed the 'logger sports' and equipment demonstrations in July. The steam train ride to the site is an added bonus -- not to be missed.

Well, this was so much fun! Congratulations to the young hosts and staff who provided much entertainment and music and humour to all the visitors. The live demonstration of a steam sawmill was really fascinating.
