I have been here many time and always enjoy walking the trails. The trees are magnificent.

There are some downsides however.
On the weekends or during the summer if the weather is nice the small amount of parking makes it difficult to stop in.
The trials do get muddy and could use more gravel especially on the busier side (South) so if you have kids in strollers or adults using walkers that may be a bit of a issue.

It really is a memorable experience to stroll along and witness what the BC rainforest as it was in the pre-European days. There is ample parking to be able to stop and gape at magnificent ancient trees about as wide as your car. It is a don't miss attraction if you're anywhere on the Island!

It is definitely worth making a stop to walk through Cathedral Grove if you're travelling along Highway 4. It's impossible to get lost on the trails although it can be difficult to follow the maps that are on the route. There are lots of different types of trees of all different ages. I visited in mid May and it was extremely busy each time I drove by. I ended up parking on the side of the road and walking back to the trail head. I would recommend visiting early in the day to try and avoid the crowds.

You can’t miss this if you want to delve into the amazing natural history of the area. Towering and fallen giant trees with seas of ferns in abundance. Informative placards are displayed throughout guide you through history.
