I've spent the last week at arrowvale awaiting the arrival of my son to be born. I've loved the realness of this place, the river trail, birds, and peace. The campsites are great and the cottages full of island charm. I thank the Collins for sharing this jewel all the while running a full time farm. Truly inspiring.

I've stayed at Arrowvale campground on numerous occasions both on business and for pleasure and love it!
The working farm setting is great. We've camped a few times and have found the campground quiet and comfortable. The cottages are beautiful. They offer all the basic amenities and a Jacuzzi tub to boot. I recommend staying at Arrowvale any day! Sure beats a stuffy hotel room.

This private campground is a ten minute drive from downtown Port Alberni. It's on a river, but you can't see the river (except from two sites) because there is a high embankment. You can get to the river easily, but there is not much of a beach, and the river is very fast. The campsites are on a large open meadow. No privacy at all. Facilities (washrooms, laundry, etc.) are tired. Didn't try the food, but the cafe looked all right.

We had booked for a longer period as we wanted to go fishing on the Stamp and Somass river and have been told that this is possible right from the property. When we arrived however the river had too much water so no access to good places. All the beaches on the photos had been gone. We checked several other options but it was the same all over - even if the owners pretended the contrary. So we stayed just for one night. The cottage is nice and well appointed. We would have preferred two larger beds instead of the ensuite Jacuzzi right in the bedroom, which is absolutely not necessary with the good bathroom the cottage offers (we used the Jacuzzi to store our luggage, as there is nearly no storage room anywhere). The kitchen is basic and has the necessary dishes, but nothing special and not overly clean – perhaps a fault of the previous guests - we had to wash whatever we touched prior to use, as it was all dirty and greasy. We liked the outdoor sitting and the surrounding nature. There is an artificial fireplace working over the temperature regulator, going all through the wall separating the sitting area from the bedroom. A temperature drop that night activated the fireplace and woke us up - not that pleasant.
With the fishing possibilities gone, we would have had plenty of time for clothes washing, but unfortunately the tumbler was broke.
Perhaps due to pre-Halloween-stress, we found the owners not overly accommodating, but then we had certainly disappointed them by leaving early. Hoever they had no damage from this, as they charged us for the room anyway for the whole period we did not stay (and they probably could still rent it over the weekend with so many people going there for hay-rides). They just reimboursed us for the taxes.
If you consider going there for fishing, think twice and have a very close look at the situation at the time. Dont fall for it and prebook as we did.
The camping was empty the time we have been there.
Would we go back? I dont think so - we had another accomodation in Port Alberni with a much better prize-performance ratio.

We love taking the family out to Arrowvale Farm. We've stayed in the cabins, we've camped there, we've thrown a birthday party there, we've visited their farmer's market, we've visited their special events such as Halloween Hay Rides and Easter Bunny Hay Rides, and we've visited just to see the farm and animals. Every time we go we are treated so well by the owners Ann and Bob Collins. We're lucky to have this special place in our community. Well worth a visit and a stay whether you are a visitor to the area or from town.

After being turned away from sold out Provincial Campgrounds we stumbled across Arrowvale. With a prayer and a smile we went into the office where Ann greeted us with a warm hello and told us she had a perfect camping spot for our family. Excited we ventured to our temporary living quarters for 3 nights -- AMAZING place! Quiet, friendly, quaint and full of adventure.
Ann makes amazing pies, the goats and chickens are friendly, the property is welcoming and the price is bang on. We will never stay in a Provincial Campground again...!
Five minute drive to Sproat Lake, 15 minutes from downtown Port Alberni (for those rainy days) - trails, the river, fishing, exploring kept us busy all weekend.
Only disappointment was finding trash left behind by tourists. Please remember to pick up ALL your trash, don't litter and keep British Columbia beautiful.
