The petroglyphs here at Sproat Lake (Sproat rhymes with moat, the locals hate it when tourists say sprout) are one of the few life size lare relics of First Nations Culture from hundreds of years ago. As a child, when I used swim there and look at them it was always fascinating.
It is about a 15 minute walk from the parking lot at Sproat Lake Park along the waterfront to look at the petroglyphs. They are on a small rock face adjacent to the lake and you must go on the dock that has been built to see them properly. If you go in summer, bring along some swimming gear as it is a wonderful place to swim off of the dock. It is also a great place to picnic.
