Riverbend campground and RV park is a great place to take your family .
The staff are great and extremely accommodating to all of our needs. The grounds are right beside Englushman River, the water is cool and crisp. The grounds are well kept as well as the cottages. My family loves to go swim, relax and take time to enjoy a great vacation in our own backyard!
I highly recommend this cottage, campground for anyone that wishes the fun of camp/ cottaging in a safe and friendly place
Thanks Riverbend!!

We had such a great experience at the Riverbend Resort. We came into Parksville late in the evening pulling our travel trailer. There were no available campsites in town, and after driving around for a while, pulled into the driveway of Riverbend. The woman who assisted us was extremely helpful and offered us a bachelor cabin at a discounted rate, since they would be closing up for the night. She showed us where to unhook and park our trailer, while we parked our truck in front of the cabin.
The cabin was very clean, and relatively modern. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, and the wifi and cable tv were great bonuses.
We enjoyed our first night so much, we booked 2 more nights with them.
We will definitely be back!!

We rented a Yurt for the first time and it was a great choice for accommodation.
Warm and comfortable and had all the perks a hotel would offer from internet to coffee.
Just a different way to enjoy your trip. Give Yurts or Tenting a try!

Room Tip: The Riverbend Resort offers cottages/yurts/RV spots or tenting. Right on the river nestled in the wo...

We only stayed one night but would stay again. Room was beautiful and clean with heated floors, stove, fridge, flat-screen TV and fireplace. Couldn't ask for anything more!! Make sure you check out the river with it's sandy beach... Heather and Shawn are very helpful and make sure to please. Also, very close to Parksville and several other ocean front beaches for that little day trip. Love all the trees!!

Room Tip: Get one of the log homes, very nice.

Stopped in at Riverbend after our trip out to Tofino, with the plan to stay for one night. We wound up staying for a week. We found Riverbend to be well kept, a great river beach, all RV sites were full service at a reasonable price, good WIFI, super close to Parksville, Rathtravor Provincial Park and it’s ocean beach. Really couldn’t fault the place. There are a bunch of cabins they rent too, maybe we’ll try one out on our next trip to Vancouver island?

Room Tip: Sites 1-10 are along river, closest to RB's river beach.

I reserved our campsite at Riverbend in May 2011 for our family wedding gathering in July 2011.
I talked with E on the phone about a few different sites that were available at that time. We decided on one site that was larger and on the end of a row so it would be more private . It was also closer to a yurt that another family member had reserved at the same time. Yurt # 3. We also reserved a 2 bdrm park model for our daughter as well as another family member reserving a campsite. So we had 4 reservations in all.. We brought a little business to the resort.
Each time I made a new reservation I would confirm my campsite reservation and my end site. Four times it was confirmed first with E. Once with H. Twice with C. Upon our arrival there we were told that our campsite was going to another group as they all wanted to be together and that they came to the campsite every year. We were given a campsite in the middle of other campers in what looks like a big gravel parking lot exactly what I had told E we did not want. I talked again to C and said this is not what we reserved but she said H had changed it the night before. There was nothing she could do. I phoned many other campsites as we planned to leave but being the long weekend in July everything was full. That is the only reason we stayed and the other relatives arrived.
When our family member arrived she was put into Yurt # 1 rather than the Yurt #3 that she had been told about in her reservation. We were not impressed.
I then met H who was apparently the boss and owner. I talked to her about the change in my reservation. I told her I had confirmed this reservation right up to the night before our arrival. . She said the site had already been booked and was a group thing. She said reservations are never guaranteed and I should have been told that. I was not told that. She said she needed to work with her staff on communication issues. That was it. Basically too bad.(my opinion).
We were stuck with our new parking lot campsite as was our other relative who ened up parked in front of a chainlink fence so close to his neighbours he could almost stretch out his arms and touch them.. They were that close. Our parking lot spot felt almost roomy after seeing theirs. The park model that my daughter reserved was nice but pricey.
After the weekend we left there and moved to a campsite in Qualicum where we all stayed for 4 more nights. Service there was amazing. Campsites large and grassy and you got what they promised you. No excuses.
We, and I speak for all of us that stayed there were very disappointed in the quality of service we received and the complete lack of professionalism in running a business. We felt like we were blown off and that our business and especially our reservations meant nothing. We were never offered any compensation of any kind. I think their business must be booming if they can afford to disregard a single customer.
My advice..Go somewhere else..where they actually value your business. Hope this helps someone out there. Remember: Reservations are not guaranteed even if you confirm many times.

Room Tip: You might think you are booking a particular room or campsite but once there chances are you might b...

Thank you for your visit to Riverbend RV Resort and Cottages, and your comments on Trip Advisor. At Riverbend we are continuously improving our resort, and guest feedback helps guide our efforts.

We fully understand and respect your frustration. We do recall two bookings for site 32 for the first weekend of July this year. One was booked in spring of 2011, and one was booked last summer. We placed the reservation that was originally booked last summer into site 32, and moved the 2nd booking to a comparable site. We simply had to honour the earliest request for this particular site.

It is normal for Riverbend Resort to be busy each summer weekend with several large groups such as weddings, family reunions or simple get-togethers, with all of them wanting to be side by side or close to each other, asking for specific cottages and other special requests. To be able to meet the needs of as many groups and individual requests as possible, the resort cannot absolutely guarantee specific RV sites or cottages to all guests. During our busiest of times we endeavour to keep all of our guests together as best as possible.

Our website already notes the need of 1st, 2nd, 3rd choice requests for RV sites and cottages on our Reservation and Terms & Conditions pages. In respect of your concerns, we have now added new coloured highlighting to improve the presentation on the website of this important information. Also all of our confirmations now include this reservation policy with every e-mail. Finally, we are focusing on better verbally communicating to our guests at reservation time the need for 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices.

We have done extensive work improving our RV sites by upgrading power and increasing the size of many of our sites. We have plans to continue upgrading to further improve our resort. Riverbend Resort is open year round; therefore our RV sites are gravelled to aid in drainage and to prevent mud from entering into RV units in the event of rain.

We have 135 RV sites that do vary in size. The vast majority of our RV sites can accommodate up to a 40’ trailer or 45’ motor-home with slide-outs. Our most popular sites by far are along the Englishman River that we match to the guest’s RV unit size. These riverside sites have the added benefit of having the view and sound of the Englishman River right behind their site. In addition these sites have the closest access to our sand beach. These particular sites do have a chain link fence on the riverside of the sites, as a safety precaution for our guests, especially for those guests with small children.

We would like to thank you again for your comments and hope to have you return to Riverbend RV Resort and Cottages very soon.

We found the cabin to be very clean and had all the amentities that we needed - a fully equipped kitchen was great. The staff were extremely friendly and allowed us early check in due to one of our party not feeling well. Great stay!
