Spent a fantastic week at Riverbend Resort the grounds are truly a hidden gem with a private beach kids playground and rustic cabins or Yurts available along with Camping and fully serviced RV lots its a short 20 minute walk into Parksville and located across the road from the Ocean.
just doesn't get any better than this lovely lodge and friendly staff.

Room Tip: Got to try out a Yurt what a blast

Nice location off main road in Parksville but far enough not to hear passing traffic. Our second stay there and although they have well furnished cabins clustered in the central area as well as additional hook ups for your own trailers etc, we elected to stay in one of the three available Yurts. The family had a blast, and I would do it again. Full shower/bath, queen bed, futon slept 4 just fine. Open concept with full kitchen, propane fireplace, out door fire pit, nestled in amongst the trees. Decent play ground for kids and the access to the river was also a hit for the kids. Reasonably priced as well. I can not comment on some of the amenities regarding the trailer areas, but would go back... Its all about the Yurt.

Excellent location beside Englishman River & near downtown Parksville. Sites are not spacious. Overall view is marred by semi-permanent structures in centre of park. Bathroom facilities were okay, but one (of 2) showers was old & dirty. A sign requesting that visitors report need for washroom cleaning seemed to be further evidence of neglect. Office staff person friendly.

Booked a 2 bed log cabin initially then requested if a one bed was available as only 2 of us going to visit my cousin in Parksville. No one beds avail upon arrival but once we stepped into Cabin 7 we were thrilled. Brenda at the office was so personable it got us off to a great start for our 3 night stay. The cottage was impeccable - although the couch was 'dated' it was clean and comfortable and neither of us cared a bit that it was 'dated'. The kitchen was a wonderful - tho we didn't use the stove at all (this time!), the fridge was a great size, the micro a great amentity to have. Everything was so clean and comfy. We didn't watch much TV, never 'lit' the stove nor did we have to turn on the heat (and it was cool & rainy most of the time). Sitting on the porch just relaxing was a heavenly thing to do. Also it was extremely quiet !! We slept in one day as we had expected we'd be woken up earlier than 9:30am by the sounds of children/people (& wouldn't have minded at all)

Room Tip: if you do not want more than a few stairs (4) or want to park beside your cabin ask for log cottage...

Me and my friends came to river end after having an awful experience at another campsite and leaving. Riven end couldn't have been a better saving grace for our camping trip. The young woman at the front desk was so friendly ad helpful. We asked if the sites had electricity as we wanted to charge cell phones and she actually offered to charge our phones in the office and keep an eye on them. The river beach may possible be the best river spot I've ever been to. Sand deep water a beautiful man made rock rapids. Basically flawless. Everyone was friendly cheap showers and even washers and dryer. Definitely will recommend this one!!

We came up for this last weekend for a LAX tournament in Parksville. We stayed in Yurt #2. It was cozy, had a full bath, queen bed that was quite firm, futon, gas fireplace, tv, kitchen with microwave and stove top. It was very comfy. As for location in the park, it was farther away from the kids playground then most of the units but was only a couple minute walk so its not a big deal. The Yurt was nestled nicely in the trees, had a nice little fire pit and picnic table outside. You could also get down to the Englishman river from the resort down a little hill. Would stay again.

Room Tip: Cabins and by the grass field, full service rv sites are riverside(up on the hillside from it) and a...

Riverbend was top-notch in almost all areas. The service was great throughout--from the booking to the time we left. The cabin was also fine: clean, and everything you could reasonably expect was provided in terms of cooking/eating utensils. Beds were fine, although the pull-out couch is only appropriate for younger children. Lots of places to run around/play/ride bikes during the day when you don't feel like going anywhere. The river is good for a swim or some fishing (small trout).

The only issue we had is that on two separate nights, there were some extremely noisy parties in sites and cabins well past the 10PM curfew (until well into the AM hours one night). I remember those days myself and don't begrudge people the opportunity to party with friends, but Riverbend needs to decide who they are catering to, as you can't really please both the family and the partier crowds.

Other than this one issue, everything was great; we're already talking about returning next year (provided we get some assurances about the noise). My son says he wants to move there permanently.
