“Very charming motel with great views!”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

This is a small, family run motel situated right on the beach front, and the rooms all have balconies with sweeping beach views. It is centrally located too, so you can easily walk to nearby restaurants. The rooms are spacious, with well-equipped kitchenettes. They even provide a mini oven as well as a microwave. The bathroom was well designed with safety rails. Hosts are friendly and helpful. To top it off, the prices are low. What more could one ask for?

The Seaedge Motel over looks a little bit of paradise on Vancouver island. It is not a high priced fancy resort, but over looks Parksville bay and when the tide goes out you have nearly one kilometre of sand to walk on, facing islands and mountains . There is a large lawn, barbecue pit, swings and climbing gear. A few feet beyond, you are on the beach. It is simply the ideal place to bring your young growing family. It is also the place for retires to come and relax and rest.
The staff are delightful, helpful and so friendly. Although there is no restaurant attached, each unit is provided with the means to cook your own favourite recipe for a meal. If it's no cooking time, there are plenty of great restaurants in Parksville to choose from. I would certainly come back!

Room Tip: Choose and upstairs room to get the best view.

We were booked in the two bedroom unit that afforded the best view of the beach- completely unobstructed. It was nice to be able to check in early and the motel kept its winter rates for the later Easter long weekend, which really helped as we are a large family and the rates are based on two people; additional people are extra, even children. The motel did not allow the communal boardwalk to be pushed through its property so there is privacy from the other resorts and the general populace. The beach is extraordinary and that is the real attraction of this motel. Personally, I appreciated the no pet policy - even more so when the beach forbids dogs (leased or otherwise) in the Spring due to migrating birds.

The full kitchen was fine with plenty of dishes.

The unit was for the most part clean, with the exception of some black mold in the corner of the ceiling in one of the bedrooms and on the window sills. The bathroom is tiny - not much room to manoeuvre; it would have been better to only have a shower instead of the very high bathtub. Towels are small and skimpy and the toilet sweats resulting in puddling on the floor. The hot water ran out quickly and the fan unit does little for the steam. As in most places, there is the usual lack of towel/clothing hooks. Beds are comfortable; the second bedroom has a double bed which is tight for two people, but two kids can manage. The pull-out sofa bed is great for an older teen.

Overall the property is designed for families and has a community atmosphere. It is often booked well in advance for repeat guests. I'm not sure I would pay the much higher summer rates, but it was a very nice trip for a Spring long weekend and would consider coming back again in the off season.

Room Tip: If it is in your budget, book one of 2 bedroom suites. Rm 123 has the best views.

We stayed two nights during our annual road trip. The motel is older, and the rooms are small, but the setting is lovely, with a great view across the Strait of Georgia. The rooms are equipped with kitchenettes so would be suitable for a longer stay of a couple who don't need a large suite.

Room Tip: One has access to a patio and picnic table in the ground level rooms.

I've just returned from my fourth stay in as many years at the Sea Edge Motel in Parksville. While it is an older establishment and lacks some of the amenities of the newer resorts south of the town, its location directly on one of the finest recreational beaches on Vancouver Island and immediately adjacent to Parksville's centre, together with the friendliness of the staff and the overall comfort of the rooms makes it an ideal location for a family vacation. Yes, the sound of children playing on the beach or on the lawn can be a bit intrusive at times but we were all kids once (and my family brought me to this beach back in the 1950's so any visit brings back numerous memories). A thoroughly worthwhile destination!

Room Tip: Choose a room on the upper story to take full advantage of the view.

Had a lovely trip to Parksville and stayed in the Sea Edge Motel once again. The views are stunning whether you are on the ground floor or the top floor. Nice kitchenette, with everything that a person would need. The bed is very comfortable and has a huge full bathroom. If you stay on the ground floor there is a nice picnic table and deck chairs on your patio, upstairs rooms have lovely balconies. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend!!!! Fantastic play are for children and great fire pits.

Room Tip: Great for families, with easy access to the beach.

Our unit had an incredibly comfortable bed, a two burner stove and a fridge and a microwave. Free internet was also a plus, everything was just great!! There is no swimming pool or fitness room, my mistake. The place is set right on the ocean and every room has an ocean view. Location, a short, easy uphill walk puts you on the edge of the down town shops and food choices. If you are hiding out for a few days, this is the place.

Room Tip: There was a little seafood place just up the hill and across the street, tasted great and lets not f...
