“It was nice”
Reviewed 5 July 2014 via mobile

We stayed 2 nights, 2 suites. The rooms were clean, a little dated for the price but my family of 7 still loved it. The veiws during the day and at night were beautiful. The outside area was clean, nicely kept. Had a play area for our grandson. It was mnice I would stay again.

Hello Dawn C,
Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your stay at the Kokanee glacier Resort.
We are a very popular choice for families in the Summer season as we have a large, private and very safe property that is perfect for kids to run and play.
As well as the playground area you have mentioned, kids (and adults) also enjoy basketball, soccer, bocce, football and most other sporting activities. Having almost 3 acres of usable outdoor area along with a great beach for swimming (directly across the road) allows our guests to actually enjoy and stay active while they are here instead of always having to seek their daily enjoyment off site. We see many of the same families year after year and we hope to welcome back your family next year for another great vacation.

We stayed two nights in this very nice older hotel. It was well maintained with a front kitchenette and living area and rear bedroom. It was quiet and relaxing with lovely grounds and several areas to sit and view the Lake and grounds. The owner operators were very accomodating and friendly. There is a small store at the base of the driveway where you can find most anything you want.

About 10 minutes outside of Nelson along the North shore is this quaint motel style resort. Service is very good with the staff willing to take the extra time to meet quest's needs. Rooms have been renovated and are clean and well appointed. Nice to have a Kitchenette for the rates that are charged. Recommended for family type vacations.

You have done an excellent job of summarizing how we try and operate our business and what we offer our guests.
Families have enjoyed coming here for years as we have a large, safe property with many activities to keep the kids busy all day long.
Thank you for noticing and hope to see you back soon.

I'm glad I found this place for a 3 day get away with my elderly mother and 2 sisters. We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite which was very clean and comfortable. It is a very peaceful location away from the city lights yet close enough to town to take advantage of restaurants and shopping.
We would not hesitate to stay again! Good value for the $$.

The manager Laurie was incredibly friendly and helpful and went out of her way more than once to insure we had the best stay possible. The rooms were incredibly clean and very nice.. The spectacular view accross the lake to the mountains and the city of Nelson was a great way to wake up each morning. Definitely get a lot of bang for your buck!! We love it here and it will definitley be the place we stay when we come back.

Thanks Luarie!! We can't wait to come back :) Big hugs to you.

First, let me just warn travellers with allergies or that are sensitive to scents to stay elsewhere. Upon entering our room we were overwhelmed by the very strong plug in air freshener plugged into one of the living room outlets. We quickly removed it and stashed it away in one of the kitchen cabinets. Unfortunately the strong scent lingered, even after opening the windows to try and air out the room. The bedding also smelled strongly of fabric softener, making for an itchy sleep! We did get different bedding the next day, that smelled musty.
Overall our room was clean but very small and dated. It reminded me of my first apartment (not a good thing!) and felt a little depressing.
The grounds were very well taken care of, which was a bonus! They even had some playground equipment which was a hit with our daughter, although I wouldn't exactly consider it child friendly as the groundskeeper was smoking (not tobacco) in the bbq area. As previous reviews have stated, the beach is across the road and is quite a small area.
I can't comment of the breakfast as we were there off season.
Overall, I would not stay here again nor would I recommend it. I don't understand how it is the number 1 hotel in Nelson, I assume that it is based on price alone?

Room Tip: Request a scent free room!!!!

I would say that the beautiful name "Glacier Resort" doesn't match the level of service it provides. It is located not on the lake shore, the rooms are small and modest, the bedclothes striped, which I have found weird. Other resorts and motels provide white bedclothes as the symbol of cleanness. Breakfast is not offered during winter season.
I should admitt that my impression is the result of unmet expectations, connected with label "resort". Under other circumstances, I believe I could leave more enthusiastic review. Sorry.
