Whenever we are in Nelson, we have to stop at least once at Oso Negro for coffee. We also had lunch here this visit. I had a baguette, which was tasty, as well as a yogurt/berry/granola parfait. My husband had pasta salad and a panini and an Americano. It is pricey, but healthy and unique food. Dog friendly as well.

We were in Nelson on vacation and watched the FIFA World Cup final at Finley's Irish Pub in Nelson. It was a very hot day (in the 30's), which for us northerners IS very hot. After the game (Germany won!) we asked for a recommendation for the best coffee in town. Without hesitation we were directed to Oso Negro (Black Bear), a short walk away. What a delightful place! It is all wood and stone and wrought iron with a beautiful garden that has benches and a river running through it. The coffee is locally roasted and is among the BEST we have had, and we have tried LOTS. Often local roasts are disappointing but this was fantastic! The baked good were also fresh and delicious - a good assortment. We bought a pound of coffee to go (Prince of Darkness) and some more to to give as a present. Check it out - you will be glad you did.

First time up to Osa Negro this year. What a great gem just off Baker Street. The outdoor patio is one you would die for in your own backyard. Don't let the line out the door intimidate you, they move quickly and efficiently to get through everyone as quickly as possible.

Lots of fresh baking, great coffee options, and a peaceful place to enjoy a visit with friends or sit out on the patio yourself.

Definitely will be back.

Relaxing atmosphere to relax and have a super coffee and snack. Lots of shade to escape the burning rays and beautiful decor on the patio. A must stop for any visitor to Nelson!
