This was a nice local spot. We went on a Friday night and enjoyed some swing dancing with a talented local band. But if you weren't into the dancing you could still hear the person sitting next to you (the volume was appreciated), could shoot billiards, or hang out on the back deck. Good spot. Pretty good beer selection.

“Worst dining experience, ever .....”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

It was Labour Day and there wasn't much open so we chose Finley's for a quick pub lunch. Place was nearly empty except for a couple of guys at the bar and maybe one other table there for food.

Drinks served and orders were taken in a reasonable amount of time (the draft beer was served lukewarm, unappealing since it was a Shandy style draft). We were enjoying the covered deck and chatting among the four of us when I realized it had been some time, in fact well over 30 min since our order had been taken (more likely 45 min!). Enroute to the washroom, I asked our waitress (in the still empty pub) if our food order was up yet. "Oh, it has been quite a while, hasn't it?, I'll check" . I returned to our table after the washroom and she hadn't appeared to explain where our food was. So back into the bar I went and there was some sort of an "incident" going on between kitchen and server staff. The one and only ticket (ours) in the past 45 min to the kitchen had been torn in half and dropped on the floor. What the!!?? In all that time, the waitress (with tons of time on her hands) hadn't clued in to a missing food order! It wasn't as if the place was hopping! The entire time we were in the pub, there was never more than 2 tables and a couple of guys at the bar. The cook promised to have our order out in 3 minutes so we decided to wait rather than find lunch somewhere else. When the waitress delivered the food, she apologized and said she would promo all four sandwiches. Fair enough, we felt fairly compensated for the fiasco.

After we'd eaten, she appeared with the bill and apologized that all she'd been "allowed" to offer was to cut our food order by 50%. We were stunned and disgusted, no sign of a manager to handle this situation - instead sending a waitress to navigate a tricky situation. We couldn't entirely blame our server, but we left knowing we'll never be back. Ever. Never. Absolutely not.

“Great pub food”
Reviewed 23 August 2013

Finley's definitely contributes to the reputation that pubs have good food. The service was quick and super friendly. I had a traditional clubhouse sandwich made with a grilled chicken breast (not deli meat), real bacon (not microwave bacon) on marbled rye bread. The fries were nice and crispy. My husband really enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich he ordered. Very flavourful, lots of pulled pork and just the right amount of BBQ sauce. Great value - thanks!

“very Irish”
Reviewed 2 July 2013

while in Nelson B C on the weekend stopped in at Finley's bar and grill for supper, This is a very tradtional Irish pub. Lot of Irish favorites on the menu, food was very good along with good service. the waiters were dresses in Irish kilts and eager to assist and recomend something off the menu. Their was a huge deck for ourside eating and also for the smokers, At 9pm there is live music and the place gets full in a hurry. would defitenly recomend this pub.

“lunch”
Reviewed 14 June 2013

first of all the décor is definitely more than a bit run down. carpet needs changing and deck could use some tlc. overall the food was great and service too. my wife had the clubhouse sandwich and I had the bacon mozza mushroom burger for approx. 12.95 each. we each had a split order of fries and ceasar salad for an extra 2.00 each. the ceasar had no croutons could have used a little more cheese but did have ample real bacon bits for good flavour. fries were very good. one of the best clubhouse sandwichs ever and the burger was very good also. for refreshments I ordered a Canadian in a bottle (safe choice) for 5.50 while my wife ordered a ceasar for between the 6.00 and 7.00 dollar range. PLEASE DONT ORDER A CEASAR FROM FINLEYS...... The smallest ceasar we've ever seen and could still barely taste any alcohol..... probably should have complained about that. I had one more beer, Canadian out of the tap for 5.50 which was fine and my wife who dared not order another ceasar decided instead on a Okanagan cooler which she enjoyed much more than the ceasar. overall seems like a good place to unwind and maybe cut loose a bit, great view from the patio/deck overlooking the west arm of kootenay lake. final bill with tax was a little over 54.00. going out for lunch is sure getting pricey these days.
