Stayed in the Ladybird suite. It was really nice, with a fantastic view. Being centrally located, its easy to access downtown and the lake as well. Would definitely recommend the Hume for anyone visiting Nelson.Location is ideal too!

We've never been to Nelson and choose the Hume Hotel after looking at several hotels in the area. So happy we stayed at the Hume. Don't bother looking at other hotels. Great location - right in the heart of town. There's restaurants right in the hotel if you don't want to venture out. There's also a liquor store adjacent to the hotel. Staff was very helpful and friendly. They remembered us every time we saw them during our stay. We also chose this hotel because it was dog friendly. This proved to be true…staff very accommodating about us traveling with our dog. The dog friendly rooms are located over the bar so it can be noisy. The noise wasn't enough to bother us and they provided eye plugs just in case. Although the hotel was very dog friendly, the City of Nelson is not. They designated the main area of downtown (including where the Hume Hotel is located) as a "no dog zone." You can't even walk your dog on the sidewalk. So you may want to think twice if you want to bring your dog with you to Nelson.

Room Tip: Dog friendly rooms are part of the hotel that hasn't been updated. If you're not traveling...

Thanks for the review, I am hoping that we didn't lose a star because of the City of Nelson's embarrassing 'No Dog Downtown Bylaw'. Since the 1990's, the City Council has decided that dogs are not welcome in our downtown core. Every four years with a new City Council, the majority of citizens and business owners are hopeful that it will change but nobody ever has the courage to champion it and get it removed.

It is a disservice to our visitors and a disgrace for the City of Nelson. On behalf of the citizens, I apologize for the inconvenience and if it made you feel unwelcome in any way. We value your business.

Just so you know, we have designated two of our newly renovated Deluxe Room as dog-friendly so next time, you would not have to be situated above the pub.

I always love going to Nelson. Great places to eat and stay. The Hume's recent room renovations are amazing. They have captured the history while modernizing the facilities. I will stay here again.

The several dining option are nice. I ate in the pub. They put on the basketball finals for me. Service food and drinks were all solid.

We had one of the renovated rooms on the 3rd floor, the bed was seriously one of the most comfortable beds ever. The front desk warned of the noisy night life, but we were there during the week and did not any problem with noise. The service was great, the breakfast is not your ordinary Continental Breakfast. There were about 5 choices and they were all excellent. The room was clean and very spacious. Would definitely reccomend.

My husband and I have now stayed at the Hume Hotel on two separate occasions, and on both, we were treated to first class service and accommodations. The rooms, restored to resemble the origins of the hotel are clean and beautifully decorated with warm, relaxing colours and temptingly comfortable furniture. This is complimented by time period photographs and murals which bespeak the hotel's rich past. The three on site restaurants offer first class food and beverages, and the wait staff is friendly and efficient. I felt myself relax the minute I walked in, and the staff and atmosphere created by them made for an outstanding vacation. This hotel really is a must for anyone travelling to Nelson!

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the nightly entertainment, otherwise you might really need the earplugs the...

I will never book threw expedia again since we paid full price for a un-renovated loud old noisy room for $150 / night.
I've paid less at a ski in / out resort than at the " Hume ".

Under staffed in the Restaurant

Don't book through Expedia? If you go to Expedia, the prices are exactly the same as if you booked directly through us. You obviously booked the cheapest room available - it is $109.99 + taxes including a full hot breakfast. After tax that comes to $126...if you paid $150 you must have had four people in your room with everyone having breakfast in the morning.

I would recommend to anybody to always book the Hume Hotel directly! You will always be told more information about the rooms than an online 3rd party will. We can make sure that you always get the best room for you at the best rate.

Please let me know where the ski in and ski out resort is for less than $100 per night is.

The Hume was fantastic. Only place to stay in Nelson, BC! The room was very clean and the tasteful mix of modern and historic makes it unlike any other hotel. And on top of that it offers multiple options for food and drink. Even a hidden club to have a dance party late at night. Very unique!
