“Good lunch stop ...includes a time trip...”
Reviewed 23 February 2014

We stopped here in Feb 2014 before tackling the Cocquilla summit.
I had an excellent burger accompanied by a mountain of fries. The wife had a bowl of bean soup which she pronounced as really good. Her soup came with a piece of BANNOCK !
It was about the size of a large loaf of regular bread, and genuinely looked like it had been fried in bacon grease over a campfire! The waitress saw her looking at it a told her it was really good with butter, and then went and got her five extra pattys of butter ! (my wife is a health food nut) Well' she did try it, two bites, said it was excellent but she could just feeel her arteries narrowing.
The waitress would not refill my water glass unless I gave her a really big smile. ...Yep, Merritt has not changed in 50 years.
The hotel is about a hundred years old; although I think they did renovate both the pub and the restaurant many years ago. We stopped because my brother used to live in the hotel when he was a miner in Merritt in the 60's, and I figured his ghost might tip his hat to us.

“Great, hearty no frills food”
Reviewed 30 December 2013 via mobile

We stopped by here on a road trip. The value is excellent, the food was hearty and delicious, and the service was friendly. It was quite busy for 1:30 on a Monday afternoon.
They used quality ingredients in the food- it really tasted home-cooked, in the good way.
The decor was dated, but what do you want in an older hotel in a small town. Highly recommended!

“Breakfast for large group”
Reviewed 9 December 2013

We had booked a buffet for a large group on a Sunday morning. They gave us a banquet room at the back. It was very nicely laid out, Service was excellent and the food was wonderful. We will return.

“Very good diner”
Reviewed 25 September 2013 via mobile

Food is very good. My only complaint with the food, albeit minor, is the vegetables were frozen.

Service was fast & friendly. It was busy even before the lunch hour but our harried waitress was on top of things.

“Great Family Meals in an Historic Setting”
Reviewed 4 July 2013

We recently revisited the Coldwater Hotel on a trip to visit our son and his family in Merritt, BC. Dinner for five of us was under $60 and was quite enjoyable. There is quite a variety of home cooked meals ranging from Salisbury Steak, Fajitas, Chef Salad, Butter Chicken, etc. Generous portions in an historic atmosphere make for a great time with good food. Make sure to visit the bar with its old brass rails and 18th century appearance. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will come back again.
