We only went to this place b/c we were traveling with our grandma and she had to have her steamed rice on day 2 of our road trip. Alas, we made the 10 min drive on the highway to get here so us grandchildren can have a stress free dinner.
To our surprise there were Chinese characters on the menu and some of the stuff on the menu were "legit" dishes you'd find in the more authentic Chinese restaurants in the bigger cities like Vancouver and Toronto. The owner of the restaurant actually personally brought out our dishes and our steamed rice b/c he probably figured he had Chinese people coming to his restaurant by the choice of our order :P The owner was actually from Markham, ON himself before moving out to AB and then BC.
The Caucasian girl they hired to greet and take orders seemed pleasant but didn't seem to really care about the job.... guess it's just one of those part-time jobs young people don't like?
the food wasn't bad and was a good change from the sweet & sour pork or those usual chow mein from the usual Chinese-Canadian cuisine menus. We ordered the hot pot stuff. Just a bit on the salty side for our palettes.
Grandma ate till her heart's content and we all ate in peace knowing she got her steamed rice :)
