Stopped by The River Cafe for a quick bite on our way through Hope, but it turned into a 1.5 Hour odyssey. The restaurant was not crowded which should have been a clue as most other restaurants in the surrounding area seemed quite busy. We ordered our meal at the counter, paid, then sat down and waited. And waited. And waited. My wife ordered a straight forward eggs/bacon combo - I ordered an egg skillet. Seemed pretty straight forward, but apparently not. At the 45 minute mark we asked on of the servers if the food was coming any time soon and she assured us it was. It became apparent that, despite the rather light customer traffic, the kitchen could only handle one meal at a time. Multi-tasking was clearly not on the menu. The food finally arrived after about an hour and 10 minutes. If was fine, and I enjoyed the skillet despite the cheese topping bearing a suspicious resemblance to cheese-whizz. The price was average for a fast food joint beside the highway. The Organic Fair Trade coffee was very good. Other than perhaps darting in for a coffee sometime in the future we likely won't go back unless we have an hour or two of our lives that we never want to get back.
