“Truckers stop here and not just for the parking! ”
Reviewed 20 August 2014 via mobile

There are a lot of restaurants that have truck parking. Truckers park there because they can. That doesn't mean the restaurant is any good however.

This restaurant has been attracting professional drivers since the 40s. Best hurry in though, the bulldozer is coming in a month or so.

End of an era. The place will be sorely missed.

“The best food for a traveller's stop”
Reviewed 28 July 2012

We always stop at this restaurant on our way through Hope. From the Vancouver area it's a great halfway stop on our way to the Kelowna or Kamloops area, or for our recent trips to go river rafting in Lytton, which is another 1.5 hours north on Highway 1. The atmosphere is older, comfortable and relaxed. The service is friendly, efficient and attentive. The food is well prepared, in generous in size and fresh. Also, the convenience of being right next to the Husky gas station means we don't need to make another stop. Its a real highlight where ever we are going and we never miss it!

“If you like an old-fashioned diner, look no further.”
Reviewed 16 July 2012

I had lunch at J's Flood-Hope Cafe yesterday. (The odd name is due to the fact that it's on Flood Hope Road.) I love diners: you know, thick china plates, automatic coffee refills, home cooking such as meatloaf, great service, and a friendly waitress who calls you Hon. This cafe delivers all of that. The food is great, the portions are generous, and there's a kids' menu as well as a seniors'. I'm neither, but I ordered the smaller seniors' portion. Some restaurants won't allow you to do that.

It's right out of the Fifties. There are stools at the counter if you don't want a table. The waitress knows a lot of customers by name.

From Belgian waffles to huge chef's salads, breakfast omelets to liver-'n-onions, this cafe is sure to satisfy. And the prices are extremely reasonable. It's next to the Husky gas station and is very much a branded Husky Diner, my favourite chain of diners. Don't forget to save room for chocolate cream pie!
