“Excellent quality - very expensive”
Reviewed 15 March 2012

Stopped in for lunch on our day of skiing. Sushi is fresh and very tasty - but expensive! The Nigiri especially I found to be WAY over priced. The rolls and appies seemed to be a bit better priced so we stuck to those. Good thing we had a big breakfast so we ate light.

“You won't believe how good this place is”
Reviewed 6 January 2012

We stayed in Kicking Horse over the Christmas and New Year period. It is a very small resort, but don't let that put you off.
The sushi is superb and the staff are absolutely fantastic, so obliging. They even stayed open late for us on Christmas Day, just because my husband thought it would be cool to have sushi instead of turkey!
As a result, we went back several times, and tried the non sushi options as well. The ginger pork is to die for.
They will also deliver, and it is just such a great service.
Really appreciate them making our holiday memorable. Respect!

“A Hidden Gem”
Reviewed 17 August 2011

Sushi Kuma has been at Kicking Horse Resort Golden BC for about 5 or so years but except for a few lucky people who stumble upon it or locals who know it's here, nobody knows about it. It is open year around even during the off season and is located in the plaza of the resort. The owner has a coffee shop on one side and sushi on the other which is a little weird, but it works. He has a good variety of sushi, tempura, miso soup, noodle bowls and even a curry bowl and they are all really good. On a busy day, it is usually understaffed so be prepared for a wait, but it is worth it. And if you are staying on the resort, you can put your order in earlier in the day and pick it up and take it back to your chalet or room. It usually isn't open in the evening except during the peak winter season which is sometimes a problem. Prices are probably a little higher than you would find in the city but it is understandable considering the price of doing business at a resort. Sushi Kuma is certainly worth giving a try if you are in the area. On a sunny afternoon you can sit on the patio with a cold beer and some sushi and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Great spot.
