I was looking for a one night stay in the Golden area and reserved this Days Inn. On arriving, check in was easy and the King room I reserved was stark, but large and clean. I had a very good rate through AAA ($89) which was much cheaper than many of the places I stayed while visiting the Canadian Rockies. So I considered it a very good value. I ate in Golden, so can't review the restaurant. Unfortunately, the Golden area doesn't have much going on, but if you need a short stay hotel, this place was fine. They also have free Wi-Fi.

The hotel is a little way from the town but average stay on our journey from Canmore to Kamloops. No breakfast at this hotel.

The town was very quiet but found the Golden Tap pub open and had a nice meal and chatted to the friendly staff and patrons. The pub looks rather scruffy from the outside so don't be put off.

The town of Golden has the most comprehensive information centre - it is a must to stop and chat to the staff there as they are so helpful. They also have a great inexpensive shop there.

We checked in pretty late (around 9pm) so even though the website offered rooms starting at $89, we accepted the $139 price ($160 everything in). Check in went pretty smoothly but checkout was another story. There were three staff members looking confused behind the counter, papers were everywhere, it was not explained whether our deposit was being returned until we asked about it 3 times, charges were not explained, and at one point, a man who looked like a frazzled manager gave his nose a 20 second excavation and then flicked his prize behind him... all in all, we were unnnnnimpressed!

And sidenote... if you pick the mountain view side, be prepared for a stair filled trek unless the housekeeping access doors are available to sneak through...

We did attend this motel quite late (7:00PM) and were thankful to get a room, but we were not permitted to use our Government rate on a Thursday making our stay very pricey just to sleep. The rooms were kind of small but they were clean. The bathroom area wasn't to nice as our bathtub had a big patch in it and the floor had a huge crack. Other than that the stay was fine. We utilized the restaurant for breakfast even though the front desk staff advised not to due to it being expensive. For 2 adults and 3 young kids we ended up paying $70.00 for our meal which was ridiculous for what we ate. No kids menus either. Understandable that the restaurant isn't a part of the hotel but it is attached and is way too overpriced for Days Inn prices, but then again everything was expensive in BC.

The Days Inn in Golden is situated just off the highway, a little way outside the town itself, and we chose it simply because it was the first motel we spotted. We stayed there during the Canada Day long weekend and so the price for our room was quite high, and did not include breakfast. The airconditioning unit was very noisy and we initially tried to sleep without having it on, but it was a very hot night and we had to turn it on in the end. We also had problems with the toilet. On a more positive note, the staff were friendly and the views from the back of the motel are lovely. There was also plenty of parking. I'd recommend this hotel for those passing through Golden, but perhaps not for those staying in Golden for a few days, as it's not very well situated for walking to restaurants in Golden itself.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the mountains

Stayed one night as we were passing through. Room was so clean you could smell the clean when you walk in. Double queen room spacious with desk, table, 3 chairs, microwave and fridge. Lots of room to hang clothes, spaciousbath tub. Beds were medium firmness, each one had three big fluffy pillows (if you want a thin pillow, bring your own). Did not hear any traffice noise (room 405 perpendicular to flow of traffic). Hot tub was hot, pool was really cold but didn't seem to bother any of the kids. Check in efficient and desk clerk was friendly. Wifi free and reasonably fast. Breakfast not included, but restaurant on premises that we did not try. Ample free parking. Would definately stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here while visiting the Rockies. The hotel was pleasant (except for the noisy drunken guest) with a great overlook of the the mountain. The restaurant at the hotel was fairly good and the hot tub and waterslide were great (yes I am still a kid at heart and went down the waterslide). We also saw big horn sheep just a few meters from the hotel.

Room Tip: We had a king size bed. My only complaint is that the pillows were too high.
