“Mixed feelings”
Reviewed 2 January 2014 via mobile

For one of the only Chinese food restaurants in Golden, it's not overly bad. Food taste was decent, however the value wasn't all that great. Paid $10 for a plate of wontons and got all wonton with less than a half centimetre cube of meat. The amount of meat in the wontons were literally minuscule compared to the size of the wonton. The chicken dish I got was decent in taste, however it was 75% vegetables and 25% chicken. The chicken fried rice was good; taste, portion and value. It seems that the only menu items with good value are the single combination platters for one. I'd go here again, but not often, just because there aren't many other Chinese food places in Golden

“Celery fest”
Reviewed 29 September 2013

Take out, chicken veggie. The meals were 60% celery, 10% flavourless chicken, 30% not too sure. They must have gotten a good deal on celery that week. The prices on the take out menu are way out of date

“Good Chinese Food”
Reviewed 27 September 2013

Decided to try Chinese food in Golden so went here as we'd seen the sign coming into town. Luckily it wasn't too busy so we got a table and menus. The menu was good (tons of choices for individual plates for group dining) with 5 combo dishes. My Ginger beef, noodle and rice plate was actually a platter and "full". It's a good time that the waitress don't bring us the "egg roll" that we'd ordered as cleaning up the platter was a trying task by its self as well as we'd had just finished our meal when a coach of 47 travelers arrived.

I'd recommend trying this place if you like Chinese food and can avoid the travel coaches.

“Coach party location”
Reviewed 4 August 2013 via mobile

When we arrived, the place was rushed off its feet with coach parties eating set menus (all Chinese people which probably is a compliment to the food).
We waited 30 mins for a table. The atmosphere is more McDonald's/Denny's than a traditional Chinese. Too much of a fast food feel for a nice ambience.
Ordered. They refused to cook our ordered salt and pepper prawn as they said they were too busy, so we changed it. Bit cross, but OK. Next they came again. Run out of beef. Good heavens is this actually a restaurant?? Ordered what they were able to cook and had in stock (limited options now).
Food was fine, not great - veg too salty for me. Not deserving of the price paid.
Given the choice again, I would avoid eating Chinese in Golden.
The waitress was excellent, helpful, apologetic, embarrassed too.

“Homestyle Authentic Chinese Food”
Reviewed 5 June 2013

We came to Kicking Horse Palace in May 2013 when we stayed in Golden for the night. The Chinese food is very refreshing here. It tastes authentic and home-made, almost like how my Mom makes it! It was great to be able to eat something healthy and yummy, while away from home.

I would recommend the soup, you can tell there wasn't a lot of random added ingredients. It was just pure, delicious soup. Highly recommend this restaurant!
