“EXCELLENT CHOICE”
Reviewed 28 July 2011

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in mid-July. Lori and Ken certainly have a lovely lodge and know what they are doing. I just have to agree with all the other top rated reviews.
Beautiful area, views, great brekkie, lovely rooms, and common area, close to other restaurants if you are tired from a day's site seeing and don't want to go back into town. Be sure and ask about the bridge you cross to get here, interesting story.

Sent my family here for a weekend stay. What a beautiful lodge! Amazing common area and very cool rooms. Ken and Lori were also very very helpful when needed. They told us all about the area and helped plan our stay.

Would definitely recommend this lodge for anyone staying in the Kicking Horse area and wanting to do Outdoor stuff. A true "Canadian" experience!

The Vagabond Lodge is a warm, inviting lodge. Ken and Lori are more than willing to pass on any tips about visiting the area, from trails to restaurants to swimming holes. The breakfasts are filled with homemade goodness; the baked goods are made from scratch.

You are just steps from the Kicking Horse Resort's Golden Eagle lift, whisking you up thousands of feet of skiing and/or mountain biking and/or sightseeing. There are so many lakes, waterfalls, mountain vistas and wildlife to enjoy in the area for the nature lover.

Our son was made to feel welcome, and talks about the Lodge as if it's his second home. It's truly a relaxing spot for the adventure traveler or people just looking to get away from the hustle and bustle for a couple of days.

Nice rooms, super breakfast and lunch with cheerful sentiment . Quiet rooms with excellent beds and clean bathrooms. A hot tub, a self service bar and the very, very pretty service from the owners Lori and Ken makes the perfect stay unforgettable. The ski area is very recommendable too. I am sure that we'll come back.

Had a great three night stay at Vagabond Lodge in early March. The lodge is luxurious and you are being truly welcomed into Ken and Lori's home. The room was spacious, with a lovely big sleigh bed and window seat to admire the beautiful scenery.

Its easy to relax after a days skiing and both Ken and Lori are passionate about their mountain and helping guests enjoy it to the full. The bountiful breakfast is a great way to start the day, and there are enough dining options for the evenings - one night the entire lodge occupants joined Ken and Lori for a meal out - its that sort of place

Look forward to a return visit

What can I say about this place other than Tripadvisor, again, did not disappoint. After reading all the great reviews on Vagabond Lodge, I felt it was an easy choice. We were a group of 3 guys, all old college friends in our late 30's, and looking for a place that was ski-in/ski-out and not a typical commercial type lodge. Althought it's not exactly ski-in/ski-out, it's so close to the main gondola you feel that it is. Vagabond Lodge is like staying in a good friend's ski home. Ken and Lori, the owners, couldn't have been more hospitable. They made us feel right at home at all times.

We showed up a little early on check-in day and Ken was right there to welcome us in and give us a place to change and store our gear so we could go skiing for half a day. The lodge is very well kept and spotless to a tee. The layout is perfect for skiers and boarders with a very large mud room, driers for ski boots and other wet stuff. They also have a great workbench to wax skis, boards and make any other gear adjustments. The rooms were just the right size with very comfortable beds and an all around cozy feel. It was nice touch to have breakfast and lunch provided and they do a very nice job of providing the right fuel for a big day on the mountain.

The main floor has a bar that you can store your own favorite apres drinks and both Ken and Lori were there to help with whatever we needed. The main floor also provided a great atmosphere to meet other guests and all were extremely nice. We really enjoyed meeting a couple from Ontario and ended up having dinner with them at a restaurant next door. If you're interested in watching some hockey and having some fine Canadian beer, there's a great little Scottish pub 2 doors down.

I've stayed at a few ski lodges around the world and would highly recommend Vagabond Lodge. I will definitely stay there again on my next trip to KH. Thank you Ken and Lori!

The Vagabond Lodge in kicking horse is the perfect place to stay. Walking distance to the ski mountain. Wonderful home cooked, healthy breakfast with variety. Lunch was included as well(only high time in winter ski months) This was as well varied and with healthy ingredients.
We were there 5 nights and the sleep was wonderful. The most cosy duvets bottom and top, unbelievable for comfort. The rooms are tastefully decorated, warm colours, not really large, but enough room. Bathrooms well designed for space with large shelves for your bathroom items.
The entrance way upon entering the lodge is perfectly set up for skiers. Huge for ski, boot, and sitting space, coming from or going out to the slopes. Design is well done.
We all loved the at home feel of the dining and living areas within the main level of the lodge. A bar to keep your beer cold. Help yourself to glasses etc. Great place to sit around after a great day of skiing to share some company with ken and lori and the other lodge quests from world wide.
The owners, Ken and Lori are the biggest asset. They truly love their business endeavor. They are the wonderful hosts and love the area and its beauty. Don't hesitate to stay at this fine home away from home. Thanks Lori and Ken. Lynn and Lewis
