We stayed at Vagabond for the May 2007 long weekend. The owners are more than welcoming and run a wonderfully friendly, inviting lodge. Our room was great with the feather top bed. The large lounge area is conducive to exchanging anecdotes with other guests and making new friends. At the same time, the area is arranged in such a way that it is also possible to enjoy the space in a quieter manner with just your partner.

The owners were more than willing to make sure that all guests were having a super time. They manage to run the lodge effectively while quietly mixing with all guests, ensuring that everyone is having the maximum out of thier stay. They find out what you like to do and go out of their way to see if they can make it happen. I am still waiting to see a bear.....but it will soon be summer and the Bear Refuge, located nearby, will be open then.

A street party was organised for the long weekend, and this was entertaining with a lot of local talent performing and many of the local artists exhibiting their work of art and jewellery. Very impressive.

We visited the lodge in the off season, but its location is fantastic...close to the lifts and the Kicking Horse Resort is a little bit of heaven in the Rockies.

The 3 hr drive from Calgary is easy as the scenery along Highway #1 is breathtaking for sure.

I definitely recommend the Vagabond Lodge as a great stay. We will definitely go again. The whole place is beautifully kept, clean and friendly. Well done!!!

Vagabond Lodge is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast lodge within easy walking distance of the ski lifts in Kicking Horse. The rooms are beautifully decorated and ours had a balcony. Our bed was one of the most comfortable I had ever slept in owing to its mattress topper. The breakfasts were superb and offered home-made scones, birchermuesli and oatmeal. A light lunch was included and consisted of soups and bread. After skiing we were welcomed with cookies. Owing to the lodge not having a liquor licence you are encouraged to bring your own wine/liquor or offer a donation for anything you consume from the communal fridge. Guests are encouraged to hang out in the bar area and relax in the wonderful lounge. The hot tub was very inviting after a hard day's skiing on the renowned Kicking Horse trails and a sauna was being installed whilst we were there.
The owners could not have been more friendly or helpful. They really do make you feel at home.
We also visited theCopper Horse Lodge next door but felt that the atmosphere was much friendlier at the Vagabond Lodge.
