Over the past three years we have stayed at Glenogle Lodge several times. We keep returning because it is probably the greatest place we have ever stayed. Away from the city, the mountain views, quietness of the whole area and the fresh air are incredible. An added bonus is lying in bed with the windows open listening to the river running by, lulling you to sleep. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The food is the best you will ever experience. Doris and Norbert are wonderful hosts, and we truly feel that it is our "home away from home". We will definately return, and we recommend it to anyone.
You will have an absolutely "carefree vacation".

Our holiday was ruined due to how upsetting it was that the owners keep their two beautiful, husky dogs tied up on a short leash day and night, despite the fact that both dogs have a friendly disposition. At one point I found one of the dogs with its leash wrapped around his neck.

The dogs are not exercised, and one suffers from arthritis and should be able to stretch its muscles, especially when there is much land on which the dogs could roam.

The animals were also left outside, despite how cold it became during the winter nights.

This site is up in the mountains above Golden, with stunning views and a real peaceful location. Doris and Norbert welcome you as family and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms were a great size, incredibly clean and our room on the main floor had access to the external shared balcony and excellent disabled facilities. Doris does her own cooking and the food was fantastic. You should be aware though that breakfast was already made for us without any choice (a problem as I am dairy and yeast intolerant - which we had not anticipated and felt unable to mention as the food was ready when we got up). So I suggest you let her know on arrival if you have special dietary needs. There are cabins in the grounds, and we saw the double cabin - which was really well thought out and would be a great stay. One other thing - this is not a place where you can keep to yourself - Doris sits with you and shares her family history - you really are one of the family here!

Words can't truly describe our stay at Gelnogle - YOU HAVE TO EXPERIENCE IT FOR YOURSELF!

Doris and Norbert are two of the most caring, and considerate people we have ever met. They took such great care of us it was remarkable. We felt like family as soon as we walked through the door.

Our room was large, bright, spacious, beautifully furnished and exceptionally clean. The property itself is stunning and situated on prime land where with the views of the mountains surrounding you - you truly feel that you're away from it all.

Doris is an unbelievable cook. I've already had cravings for her pancakes and it's only been a week :) Huge portions, cooked with love is the only way I can describe it. Norbert is the perfect host and always took care of us.

Suffice it to say, on this trip, we had our best family vacation as of yet - as our stay at Glenogle has topped every other family holiday that we've had. We just can't wait to go back to back!

Doris and Norbert - if you're ever in Edmonton (or Dubai :) you have to get in touch with us.

Thank you for everything and we hope to see you soon,

Truly,

The Abraham Family

We found the Glenogle Lodge via TripAvisor, and stayed for an initial one night in July 2007.

What can we say?
- Doris and Norbert are great hosts. So nice, so friendly and so welcoming.
- The food was fantastic! Why go to a restaurant when people come here to enjoy Doris' cooking? Great range of meals, and huge portions!
- The setting is just amazing. Being located a couple of kilometres outside Golden, you might not want to stay outside a town. However, the peaceful and quiet location is fantastic and the views are breathtaking. Lots of fresh mountain air too.
- The standard of accommodation is great. We stayed in a room with fantastic views, and ate our evening meals on the balcony watching the sunlight fade on the mountains. The room was large, spotlessly clean, very comfortable and suitable for disabled or infirm guests (shower is open, and has a seat in it, wheelchair ramp access to the Lodge). Bed was super comfortable, and room had wireless internet access too.

Overall, the Glenogle Mountain Lodge is one of the very best places we have stayed in (and we've stayed in a whole range of hotels from the cheapest to pretty expensive). This is a great place to stay if you want to explore the Rockies and Parks during the day.

It was so good, we stayed an extra 2 nights. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Give it a try, and you won't be disappointed.

Doris and Norbert are two of the nicest hosts you could ask for. You are made to feel like you are part of their family. Doris is an AMAZING cook (HUGE meals!!!) and makes sure you are well taken care of! We could not have asked for anything more. It was wonderful and we will be sure to go back. After a day of rafting it was nice to know that when we returned to the lodge that Norbert and Doris would
cater to our every need and then some! Wonderful people with great hearts and you can tell from the moment that you walk in the door of their lodge. Was a very quiet get away and the scenery was breath taking. Fresh mountain air!! After three days we hated to leave a place that felt like home. All and all a great place to stay, great large rooms, awesome people, nice mountain scenery, could not have asked for a better get away!
