A very nice experience.. Great and friendly staff. The interior has been upgraded since our last time there. We had the 8 oz. Prime rib and with all the trimmings it really is a full plate. It was our anniversary and they gave us a great dessert to share or free. A nice touch!

We have gone to this restaurant for any special occasions and used to recommend it to our visiting friends. Never again. Our friend wanted to take us out to dinner; thus we did not make a fuss. We asked for a quiet spot, were placed in a far booth and very soon thereafter the server brought in a fussy baby and young child with their parents right next to us. Our friend is elderly and has mobility issues and could barely get out of the booth when time to leave. The food was not good. The vegetables were ice cold, the baked potato barely warm (wouldn't melt the butter), $32 ribeye steak full of grissle and fat, overcooked and barely warm.....prime rib portion very small for the money and also not what they should be. Will not be back. The 8 oz tenderloin at $42 is ridiculous - would not even consider it. Caesar salad prices through the moon - it's only lettuce......extremely disappointed. The server would not have had the tip that she did if we had been paying the bill......won't see us again............

Our meal at Frank's Steak & Schnitzel Haus was one we will remember for a long time. My husband enjoyed trying many European dishes at the buffet, and I enjoyed my schnitzel. (A half order is very large). It was fun to have something different from the standard fare, and reminded us of our trip to Austria. But what makes this restaurant outstanding is the wonderful welcome and service. The staff is really special - friendly, attentive and professional at the same time. We enjoyed chatting with them about the restaurant and the area. We couldn't have asked for more. It is a lovely restaurant and we will definitely return when we are in the area again.

We were recently in Cranbrook and wanted to try this place. Actually we drove there to check this restaurant out.

Lots of parking, like restaurants in days gone by. When we approached the door to go in at opening at 5 PM we were greeted respectfully. We had a choice of the pub or dining room and the waiter said the prices are the same. We chose the diner but the pub looked wonderful and cheery, as well.

From the reviews on Tripadvisor, we pictured an older family restaurant, somewhat dowdy. But...what we discovered was quite new looking and elegant (long heavy new thick tables, nice table cloths & cloth napkins, and nice window blinds).

Now to the food- consider not ordering full orders. The half orders were more than enough for us! The waiter was attentive and reminded us of the elegant family run restaurants of days of old. He presented himself in a professional and caring manner. To be honest, Frank's Restaurant reminded us of classy restaurants such as: Cesars, Hy's (sadly no longer in Calgary) and the White Spot (the version that was in the 1980's and 1990's- also sadly no longer in Calgary).

We had the schnitzel (of course :)) and it was tasty and perfectly done. It ranked among the top 25 percent of schnitzels we have ever had. We are connoisseurs so our standards are high :) To be honest, the spaetzle was not something I'd order again (tasted just ok) so I'd try another side like the baked potato with all the fixings next time (the waiter presents you with several choices). Hubby had the baked potato and loved it.

We were never rushed and customers seemed happy. We will be back!
